Please dont quote me on the flooding part. Im just talkin about the top crest in general. If a dike breaks, I dont want to be held accountable.

lol, no I wouldn't hold you accountable to the flood. Based on the amount of water (and snow waiting to melt) out west waiting to enter the river, the warm weather and snow melting (even now) plus the possible 12" of snow coming in a couple days PLUS warm weather after that....

It just seems nothing is going our way, I'm expecting the worse.

We had to get 120 inches of snow in 97 to get to 39.xx or whatever.

the rain in the fall is the reason for this flood. the river wont rise much with all the snow thats left to be melted, especially with the hydrologic graph showing a decent curve going down.

I dont get why we arnt out there enforcing the dikes and adding height. Just incase it does go up.

although its only going down 2 feet in the next seven days. So if they were to show the whole graph like they were before it wouldnt look like much. The graph is kinda deciving

I'd say it takes it a hell of a lot longer to desend then to rise, cause the Hudson Bay it flows into, in Canada, is still frozen.

ah, some of you guys are kinda stupid. The snow isnt gonna make a bit of difference, sure its gonna put a little water INSIDE the dykes from melting, but it is <1% of what is out there. Therefore, NO DIFFERENCE. Another note, if you were smart at all, you would look downstream to where the water is even coming from. My house, the yard is dry, the ditch is maybe 1/4 full, and the river crested on tuesday and has already went down 3+ft. It takes 4 days for the water to travel the distance to fargo at this velocity, and that is the reason the river leveled off of friday.

Yay no classes at NDSU all next week either now lol

BTW I am really impressed with the FM area through all of this. We pretty much rocked it. This is why I love the FM area; most of the people here are actually kind and care for one another.

Sounds like a decent chunk of Fargostreet was out there on the front lines bagging and what not too. Good job guys.

correct bill, 97 was a wild one. I remember bagging like you guys were, for 5-6 days straight for at least 10 hours a day. But, in the end the water came from all sides, at one point the dykes we built were doing nothing but holding the water in, as the river was lower than the water on the other side. That ice storm was the worst, i was riding jetski around breck bringing people gas and food when i had time, what a miserable memory

Come on now. Fargo's elevation is approx. 900' depending where you measure at. There is about 8/10's foot of drop per river mile to the north. Lake Winnipeg is at an elevation of 712' Are you saying the water is flowing slow because we are almost 200' higher than Lake Winnipeg that has ice over it?? That lake has a surface area of over 9,000 sq. miles. Even if we were only 20' higher than the lake it would still be like pissing in the ocean.

I never said "You're all wrong". I am just trying to clarify some of the stuff that is completely wrong. Sorry if you didn't like it but please don't post things when you have absolutely no clue about it.

Yea, i said "I'd say" cause it was my guess on why it would be slow going down than it was faster going up.

                                    I was wrong, big deal.
