But really, SCCA doesn't have any prize money. We're looking at getting some trophies or something to the top 3 placements of each event, and maybe something a little bigger to the best overall of the season...but Badlands Region doesn't have a large budget for things like cash prizes. I totally wish they did. Now, I might be able to talk one of the event chairs into setting up a pool sort of deal, but I've never considered that before, and we would have to make sure it was within SCCA policies and ND law.
Mostly we're just out there tooling around with our cars to have fun. Anyone can get out and race, from Corvette Z06s to built STi's and Evos to NA Hondas, Mustangs, you name it. We've had a coupe of guys come out in lightly modded Neons, not because they want to win, but because they want to meet more people into motorsports and have some fun with their cars that they WON'T get pulled over for.
SCCA also encourages passengers, so a lot of the guys like to bring their wives/girlfriends/buddies onto the track. It's usually a lot of laughs, especially when there's an in-car camera involved.
