First day ever on a skateboard and I could ollie and do some basic grinds. I still can't ride a direct drive rear hub (no free wheel, if bike is moving pedals are too) bicycle backwards for more than a few feet. I'm by no means a "pro" at either of them, but I was fortunate enough to have a 10' tall by 16' wide 1/2 pipe in my yard growing up (kinda a ghetto one, made it out of scrap lumber at the farm).

Not taking away from either persons skills in the vids posted, both are amazing to say the least, but in spite of all the fast footwork needed for skating, the danger is worse on a bike because of the moving parts, handle bars, etc... You can pretty much ditch your board on an aborted aerial maneuver, not quite as easy with a bike.

Okay. I'm not going to say I don't believe you, its just a little far fetched. We could go to the skatepark and you could forever shut me up if this is the case.

          Bailing sucks either way.

I really gotta agree here. It's like riding a bike for the first time...you kinda need to get a feel for how it "handles".

At first I did it for fun, then I realized I made the investment and had to do it!

Haha. that would prob not work. When I was a skateboarder just like with Chuck, we were probably 75-100lbs lighter. I could see some broken bones, plywood and even concrete if Chuck took ya up on that.

Lol. What an eloquent way to call chuck old.

The Ollie came somewhat natural to me, not saying I could do it very high at first (probably couldn't have gotten over a can of pop laying on side at first), but I could do it. As for basic grinds, again, I'm not talking about grinding the lip of a 1/2 pipe here, I'm talking about some basic axle grinds on curbs/steps and not for a very good distance....but grinds none the less. I never got "good" at skateboarding in my own mind...again, lived on a farm 30 miles from town so it was much easier to ride bike down the gravel road than skateboard so I spent much more time on my bikes.

When I first started...yeah, I was probably 135 lbs. Last time I tried I could still ollie.

                      [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J0TQJYI1D-I[/ame]
that ollie at the dne of the video is just as high as the power box in the bike video.... I agree biking probably takes more kahones, but skateboarding takes A LOT MORE SKILL!

                      no race car? becuz homeowner...
