So what exactly were the bad things that he did. I'm seriously just asking because I don't know.

I'm pretty sure there were private donations to build the house...no? If so, who gives a shit? If someone wants to donate money specifically for the house, why the hell would you spend it on anything else unless you want to make sure that person never donates any money again. If they used it against authority, then fine, shame on them, but I think theres more to it than that.

Wasn't that $22,XXX worth of 'donations' for NDSU? Which instead of getting something for the campus or w/e....trip to Washington for my family. Sweet.

Whatever mistakes he may have made, he did good things for NDSU period.

I understand that enrollment is an all time high, yada yada...but honestly, what did HE do personally that any President wouldn't have? I mean I have never met a single soul on campus that went there because of something he directly did.

damn... for $2 million, the dorms woulda been a hell of a lot nicer... like maybe showers that weren't freezing cold half the time, other stuff not falling apart, and possibly the basements not flooding every time we had a decent rain...

People that say he helped ndsu grow so many students, well fargo had a big growth spirt during that time, which most likely caused the amount of students to go up

He is not a bad guy. The house is not his, it belongs to NDSU and he will not be living there. The 22k and 50k salary are pretty ridiculous though.

I find it funny that people actually think that a government project (especially any construction project undertaken by NDSU) will come in on time and at or under budget. Look at how long it took for them to complete the additions to the Memorial Union and the Wellness Center.

The union ended up costing $22 million? Yikes!

I still don't understand the university's logic in buying all of the downtown buildings when they have plenty of space right on campus. The architecture building I can justify as it kind of goes along with the theme of the program. However, the business building and I think there was another one is silly. They have to spend money to gut, renovate and bring those buildings up to code. They also have to spend more on personnel costs to maintain the IT stuff, building maintenance, etc. Now consider that they are going to have to run more busses to get students down there and back. Stupid IMO.

I find it funny that people actually think that a government project (especially any construction project undertaken by NDSU) will come in on time and at or under budget. Look at how long it took for them to complete the additions to the Memorial Union and the Wellness Center.

The worst part about it (like you and I have talked about before Chris) is that a lot of it was no bid gov't work. IDK how the hell they get away with it, but HUGE portions of the work never have a competitive bid to go with them (Fire & Security for example....SimplexGrinnell never has competition as everyone else is excluded from bidding, I know for a fact that those projects go out at 40pts profit margin, and never mind what happens with change-orders...)
