My wife went to run up stairs while I had out laptop (which is about 8 months old) out and charging, tripped on the power cord, and yanked the DC power jack out of the computer.

What are my options to fix this?

    It's a Toshiba.

If the board isn't damaged, you can solder in a new power port...they are usually available on ebay for a couple dollars.

At first I did it for fun, then I realized I made the investment and had to do it!

REGARDLESS OF WHAT HAPPENED.....the actual jack it's self is gone, and a peice of plastic went with it.

Eff that. I could buy three of these toshibas for the price of one mac with similar specs.

And you can install MacOS on your Toshiba...which is pretty much the only difference between the 2...other than price.

The break away power adapter on the Mac is pretty sweet.

That's the only thing I like about macs.

That should be no problem. Open the computer up and plug in the new connector... if the pins were pulled out just match up the wires and solder them right to the board.
