Hello Fargostreet,
My friends all call me sheeran, im 19 and i live on the 9th St. Circle. Im originaly from Park Rapids, MN but school has brought me to the FM area. I drive a 95 Grand Am SE with the 2.3L MFI DOHC Quad 4 with a 4 speed auto (HS graduation gift andnot my first choice thats for sure). Once I graduate and get working im going to build a Duramax instead of a GA but hey Im working with what I got. -
Welcome, Im pretty sure I went to high school with your sister (also from PR originally).

wow there is a lot of people from PR thats cool...it isn't the H.O. and yes people have and still do tune these things...they have moved more into the 99+ with the 3400 V6 however there is a few mid 90's that are fairly nice machines....run over to http://www.gaownersclub.com/forum/index.php and check it out....theres a guy with a supercharged 95 running high 14s at 90mph...sure its not mind numbing speed but thats preaty quick compaired to mine...lol

welcome!!! if you want to build a diesel wjen your done with school build a cummins in my opinionWhy.... let him spend $$$ on an Izuzu engine, when he would have to spend a percentage of that on a cummins for the same amount of power and still be more reliable...
I think this amazing pic tells enough of the story.... wouldn't you say??
even though i admit I would take a Dmax over a PSD...... the PSD looks ridiculous..... like gasser parts in a diesel

That right there shows why all other diesels blow donkey dick.

Just to be fair the Duramax spreads the stress over eight rods instead of the Cummins six:icon_rr:. I'd still pick a Cummins though.

To play devils advocate: any extra strength in the rotating parts is extra design cost, extra manufacturing cost, and if it comes via extra mass, then also extra power wasted, and extra fuel used.
Of course, having 10% too much durability is better than having 10% too little

I thought all diesel engines were toys until you are talking about Caterpillar?

You mean the dmax looks like a gasser? /the PSD has the beefiest rods.
