i'm mainly concerned if anyone has some idea for what should be done.
    chlorine gas = poison
how the c'mon inn has stayed open as long as they have is a mystery to me.

that's not a bad idea... although, i was planning to just make a very sound, logical defense of my position (like what i mentioned in my initial rant), and see what the response is. if that doesn't work, where can i find a gas mask around here? or am i going to have to search the intartoobz?

when you say noxious gas, is it more deadly than a fart?

normally, my eyes are very itchy and watery when exposed to chlorine in the levels that i experience in the pool area.
the last time the exhaust broke, my chest started burning after about three nights of exposure (when it finally occurred to me to leave the lobby doors open and the a/c on, because it might take a long time before the necessary part arrives). this time, i block the pool doors a bit better at the start of my shift, open the lobby exits until the temperature is in the 50s, and then relax until the aroma of poison seeps back into the area around 5.

Sounds like over chlorinization of the pool and an exhaust vent frozen shut....at least partially.

I'd go with the gas mask though.

lol @ gas mask, do it. Can you imagine the look on a persons face coming into that hotel late at night and there you are wearing a gas mask.

i spoke to the general manager this morning, something will be done about it. that's the last time i complain to the front desk manager... she's worthless.

now that i've seen how cheap gas masks are, i think i'll buy one and a few extra filters, just in case...

Wait a minute...you work at the C'Mon Inn? What is your name? I worked there for over 3 years. I just quit in July.

I worked at the Roadway Inn on south University like 10 years ago, and dealt with the same crap. Sucks big time

the comment about the c'mon inn was an aside. clearly, the water in their location is not in a separate room.

the rodeway is not of the same caliber that the best western is, so that does not surprise me. the general manager came in very early and commented on the odor of chlorine that shouldn't be there (because of the monstrous exhaust system)

Ah. Yeah the chlorine odor would get very strong when our maintenance man would add it to the hot tubs in the morning. I must've been immune to it though because other than those times I could never smell it. The size of the courtyard really helped dissipate the fumes plus there was really good ventilation in there and it was only 4 small hot tubs. Our pool room was a different story (that had its own room). Especially after they replaced all of the exterior windows that used to leak. Now it is like a heavily chlorinated sauna in there.
