Custom Built Subwoofers
-
I have a custom 10 that will be here in about 3-4 business days. Only things extra I did were longer tinsel leads and stiffer spider for higher power handling and longer excursion control. The pics themselves will be hard to show what/how they did it different.
It's kind of like looking at a 1000 MHz microchip and comparing it to a 2000 MHz microchip built on the same platform/architecture...without knowing exactly what you are seeing it is hard to spot the differences between them as they look essentially the same.

Material yes...right now they are experimenting with a Ceramic cone, IDK about inverted dustcap design, I'll ask though (I'd think they can in some way/shape/form....unless they don't due to a sonic reason, IDK)

Yeah...the Atomic "Brown Note" series. I'll have them order a couple for ya

Not entirely sure on that wes. I'll check it out.

can they build me 4 ppi pro 8's?:icon_scratch:

They won't say PPI on them, but they do have a flat Nomex Honeycomb cone material available. I'd guess that they could be closely replicated Scott.

Kinda hard to see what was done exactly, but the 10" sub (the beefiest of those shown) has a stiffer spider for greater control, and braided tinsel leads that are .25" longer than normal. Both of these will help with SPL, and the stiffer spider should help quite a bit with sound quality as well by keeping the music very controlled.
The 8" is a Quantum series and features a dry carbon cone to ensure fast response and a rigid cone to provide exceptional sound quality (customer bought 4 of them and has them in a 1.6 cuft sealed enclosure and it sounds amazing...can only imagine if a vented was used instead.)
And I also included a Manhattan Series coaxial pic as well. I haven't hooked them up to anything yet, but I heard a pair at CES last year and they sounded very clean.
