Flood Fight 2010
-
I will be way too busy during the flood shit. I am on EVAC, and we are pretty much preparing for the worst... Red is supposed to be worse than last, shyenne the same, and wild rice, worse... I doubt i will be sleeping much... This shit is gonna be bad if it doesnt slowly thaw, and im pretty sure its not going to be a slow thaw...
-
I will come up and help sand bag if someone is willing to put me up for the night, or a few nights.
-
Also, sunday at 10, news special on the flood.... And the news just released this article today. http://www.inforum.com/event/article/id/269751/

We will probably need sandbagging help this year more than help with our dike. Due to the fact that moorhead told us they were doing a clay dike down our street, were basically required to ring our house... thats gonna be a lot more sandbags than were used to in the past
-
well guys no matter the out come wish everyone the best ur gonna need it. just think ur missing 750+ troops that were working around the clock to help last year
-
we're getting a much earlier head start this year though

Idk about anywhere else, but the only thing the troops did last year in my neighborhood was stand around at the end of the street and kick sand around. They would stop me EVERY single time because I had ND plates, and I would have to explain to the same idiot every time that my parents live in the neighborhood and I was helping them. There was old retired guys on rascal scooters doing more than the guys in uniform last year.(this is not an exaggeration) -
from what i saw, the guard was sitting in their humvees with their feet up.
way to earn your check, guys.

Thats cuz you live in minnesota. No one wants to save moorhead or the people who live right on the riverLocation: N. Fargo
fail.

I am in the Guard and I worked my ass off. 2 straight weeks of throwing sand bags. Everyone that was activated every year had a job to do, didnt matter if they were sitting in a humvee or building dikes, IT WAS THEIR JOB. if they were sitting in a humvee, its because they were told to. Unless you have been in a the military, you will have no idea what goes on. Im sorry that what you observed was negative, but you need to see the big picture. Too easy for you to sit and criticize.

Yeah they did nothing at all, don't have them come back. Pretty sure i saw them kicking ass putting up hesco's and sand bagging.
Where do you get off saying they did nothing, when there no way in hell you saw EVERY military person doing there job. Do you understand that maybe they were not allowed to help you guys.
Was there not a plan to build a dike and let XX houses flood to save the rest of the town? Were you not on the "wrong" side of this dike?
Idk about you a kirk, but i'm more then glad they were here. You really don't understand what your saying.
It sucks joel that your parents house floods every year, but that is not the military's fault, and maybe just maybe you should build a damn earth dike. Instead of completely busting ass every year to hopefully not flood.

ok for ur information it was minnesota guard that was in moorehead and everybody that was in the north dakota guard was pulling no less than 12hr shifts and i was in a shop making sure that trucks were running and fixxing them when they broke down.... to say that we did nothing is the wrong fucking thing to say we busted our ass and if thats the gratitude we get then its that the type of people that apparently dont need our help... but to the rest of u gl with the flood
-
Yeah...I worked flood duty last year, will probably work it again this year. I definitely worked 12 hour shifts, and by the time we switched off and got back to the armory, it was more like a 14-16 hour shift. We were in the trucks because that was our assigned position. We had to make sure that people didn't get themselves into dangerous situations. Security=safety. See you all in the spring.
