SNES Emulating

I downloaded 700+ SNES Roms off limewire. The problem is they don't have a file extension and that is apparently needed for them to work.
My question is, what is the file extension supposed to be?THanks

i forgot to mention, i'm doing this on a dreamcast using DreamSNES.
I made a disc already with some other ROMS with extensions but they didn't have the same extensions and I didn't want to keep making coasters.Is there a way to see what files are on a nero cd image?

i think there are a couple of different file formats from the various backup systems (super wild card, pro fighter, MGH, Game Doctor etc.) but the only difference is the header I think. so worst case you might have to look up some old rom tools to get a few to work but smc should work on most. speaking of, does anyone still have an old backup unit? i've still got a Game Doctor and I use it sometimes but waiting for 4 floppies to load each time is a bitch so i mostly use emulator.

if you can't get the roms to work on the dreamcast, you can also try going here (http://vimm.net/) to get NES and SNES emulators for your computer, and basically all the NES and SNES games that were ever made. So if you can't change the file extention, try redownloading the games from the site above.

I also like http://www.emulationstation.com/ they have tons of roms for tons of platforms. Dowside is there are pop-ups. Just click no to everything and then its golden

i used the magic file rename and that worked great, so much better than manually doing it.
it works great on the dreamcast, but i will check out those links to add more roms to my collection.thanks again
