2 wheel problem.

I wanted a motorcycle for a very long time...still do, my dad has two bikes, an 07 Goldwing and a 84 Honda cbr900 custom. He wants me to ride the 900 but idk how thatd work...I dont have control on how I can bend my knee (for those of you that dont already know...had cancer, lost a leg, have a prosthesis...blah blah blah...) so not only am I going to have to find a way to shift but need to find a way to keep it balanced...any ideas? throw some in for sport bikes too...im young and favor those most, my uncle has one hed let me ride if I can find a way to ride it, hes tired of it and would let me have it.

Buy my SV that's in the for sale section. It has a much more upright riding position so having to move your legs like you do on a cruiser won't be a problem. As far as shifting goes you'll probably have to rig up some sort or hand shifter or something....

Get a Zuma or a Ruckus. Just as fun and way easier to balance.

i am with hando, you should try your luck on something light and slow(er) first. i dont like bikes to start with and i wouldnt even try to ride one in your position. +1 for havin the grapes, though. i know there are kits on the market for hand shifting, although i couldnt begin to tell you where or who makes them.

When my leg was busted up I managed to ride my dirtbike for a bit longer...I love bikes, I learn real quick so i know I would get bored with a slow bike pretty quick, I plan on learning how to ride out where I live first mostly highway and interstate riding, then slowly move into town riding.

Shifting wouldn't be a problem, we can/have equipped bikes with electric shifters, both up and down shift, could even make it do it automatically if you wanted to but would get pricey for stuff like the auto shifting.

Balancing again is something that could get expensive. Could be as simple as trying to keep it leaned to the side of your good leg whenever slowing/stopping and could get as elaborate as a wheel that would fold down at a given speed and act like a "training wheel".

Personally if it were me I would throw a electric shifter on it and just try to keep it to the one side whenever I stopped, if it got off balance or a strong wind hit and pushed it to the other side you would have to either try catch it with your prosthetic leg (not sure how agile you are with it) or risk falling over, which from the sounds of it doesn't seem like you are to concerned about a little risk with this.

There is a big difference between him and I, he has his joint that he can move...Mine is an above knee amputation so i dont have that joint to move. I came up with the training wheel idea earlier when i was talking with my dad, where would pricing on that sit? My good leg can easily hold up a 800lb bike so a 300-500lb bike wouldnt be difficult. I also came up with kind of like a "bike crutch" for when its sitting still, something I can have either go down or fold down to the ground to support the bike on the side I cant hold up with my prosthesis, although it would easily hold it up, the main problem is putting my leg back on the peg.

Depends, wouldn't be to bad if it were somting you controlled with a button or lever, if it was automated would get pricing.

Maybe somthing as simple as a wheel and support mounted to the frame with a lever to pull when you wanted it down and then put back up once moving.

Exactly what I was hoping for, Tell me some more about this, could I talk pricing with you and how I would get this to work?

he was making a suggestion about a custom piece, so he probably won't have pricing... Not flaming at all here, but you REALLY need to just go talk to a fab shop, or a welding shop rather than posting on FS. You are asking people to spoon feed you ideas here, just do some research yourself like the rest of us do.
