Polatized sunglasses, what do you know?

oakleys +1.
My oakleys have been through a lot and they still havent broke. the polarized lens are awesome. I have owned them for 7 years, they have gone through 2 tours in Iraq and the only thing I needed to buy for them is new lenses once cuz the originals got scratched.

my oaks are polarized..it takes a little getting used to with the color switch from the sun with certain glares/things , but theyre awesome.
got a pair from ebay for like 75 bucks or something which costed like 120 on oakleys site.

I also have polarized oakleys with the brown lens or w/e there called. and it is like stated night and day difference. I don't think i will need another pair for years. i personally liek the brown lens over black, just seems to work better or more natural looking through them. imo

Well, I probably know more about sunglasses/glasses than this entire site combined.
Coming from someone who makes glasses/sunglasses for a living, there are some glasses/sunglasses with some poor optics, poor materials, poor construction, and poor coatings.
Oakley's are pretty decent optics wise, their frames are very good quality, warrenties are very good. There are better ones out there though, trust me. A lot of Oakley's price comes from their awesome marketing.
We contracts through many suppliers for lenses/materials. They by far, are not created equal. Sunglass are one of those things that you get what you pay for.
The ones at bass pro shop are more than likely acrylic. Very poor clarity. If you have any other questions for me, shoot me a PM.

I have a set of Native Silencers and love them, they came with 3 sets of lenses and a lifetime warranty.

My girlfriends dad and I and a coworker all hate Natives and all have had the rubber part fall off on both sides...for the price you pay for the glasses I sure as hell am not happy with the poor quality of the frames. I'd like to know more, but rather than PM, I think it would be beneficial to the site to have you answer here.
What other brands would you consider par or better than Oakleys? Spy? Maui Jim? Smith? Ray Ban? I am truthfully interested, because I think I am going to return my Oakleys because the Gascans are a bit tight by my ears.

X2 I'd love to know more. I've been shopping for a good pair of sunglasses for a couple years now. I always just end up giving up because all $200 sunglasses seem to look and feel the same, but I never know exactly what kind of quality I'm looking at.

Maui's and Revo's are top quality opticaly. Raybans are pretty good. Spy, Smith, Serengeti, are OK as well. Oakley makes a good sunglass if you are rough on them. For quality, glass (yes, glass) will give you the best clarity (and better scratch resistance). Mirror coating will reflect rays away, anti glare on the backside will reduce reflections behind the lens, or when you have a light source behind you. Oakley's uses polycarbonate lenses. Poly is durable, but not the best opticaly. Lower clarity value, more surface astig. A lot depends on what are you looking for out of your sunglasses. There are many options our there for you. A majority of the "high fasion" sunglasses are not going to give you the best clarity.

I love my oak's i do have polorized lenses n never had any sort of problem with the vision in them...... If you know anyone with a military ID go onto usstandardissue.com and check out the styles of glasses they have they are all bullistic approved and they run really cheap for oakleys.... The reason for the military ID is bc they are for military personel and they discount the shit out of them for us.... so if your looking for a high end cheap pair of glasses check it out.... u can go online without an ID and check them out!

I'm sure they work great. I have 4 sets of Oakleys. I get a pretty good deal on them as well, but thats because I sell them. They still, are not the best opticaly. I use mine for yard work, hunting, shooting sometimes (I make my own shooting glasses), and sometimes fishing. They are really tough SOB's.

There is form (foakleys) and there is function (Oakleys). I have very sensitive eyes, and would love to buy the best of the best (within budget). For me, I don't care what the symbol on the band says, I don't want headaches or to squint...I spend a lot of time on the lake, and with cheap sunglasses, it simply isn't worth it. If you don't have sensitive eyes and just want a cool fashion piece, that is where the market for foakleys comes from and I don't see a problem with it.

I have 2 pairs of polorized ray bans and i love them. So much of a difference over other sunglasses i own. They have some weight to them and they fit comfortably. From waht i can tell they are very clear and i never have to squint when i where them. Polorized is a different world. Everything is so much more vivid. I cant compare them to oakleys or anythign becuase those aret really my style./
