Looking for some clarity on the above
Are wheel tubs allowed?
Will a 12.5 dot tire be allowed et street, Hoosier dot, etc?
Any plans to change the tire rules for next year?I'll answer these by just putting the entire set of rules for the remaining Q8s.
- No wheel tubs. (mini tubs ok)
- No wheelie bars.
- For RWD vehicles, full slicks may be no bigger than 28x10.5 (no 'W's).
- For RWD vehicles, DOT slicks may be no bigger than 28x12.5.
- For RWD vehicles, drag radials may be no bigger than 325/50.
- AWD and FWD vehicles can run any size tire.
- You and your vehicle are required to have any necessary safety equipment. Top End Dragways can prohibit you from running at ANY time. For instance, If you aren't tech'd to run in the 9's, and you run a 9 second pass in the quarter finals(and win), T.E.D. might warn you not to run in the 9's again. If you ran another 9 in the semis (and win), T.E.D. can kick you from the track for the day. This would eliminate you from the final, and any prize money. This is all up to T.E.D's management. There will be no debating this. What Charlie says is final.

Isn't that what the helmet is for??

Not right now. Suggestions are welcome.Heres something, not sure how it would work but the cars are suppose to be street legal, right? We take the cars that have insurance, current tabs, and a dot approved tire (limited size maybe?), and take these cars on a 20 to 30 mile drive see if they make it. Allow for a short cool down, make one run, to see were they land in the standings. Then set up the bracket and do the runs for the winner. O and the last time the cars are able to be touch is before the 20 to 30 mile run. After that any hoods opened or any programing done will disqualify the car and driver! I would say tire pressure would be ok to change but that would be about all you could change once they are started.

No. 'Street Legal' is a name, period. I would be willing to bet that exactly zero of the vehicles that have competed in any Q8s pass all state/DOT regulations.TRMN8U;324532 wrote:

I can't even imagine the manpower it would take to pull this off. I am curious to hear the opinions of people that have competed in Q8s. -

I have competed in the Q8 everytime I have gone to the event! I didn't think it would work out but I thought I would just throw it out there. I want to go to a steet legal event were you have to do a trip like that. The closest one I know of was in Ohio this past summer. My car is a daily driver unless its raining or there is snow on the ground!

I think some of the people that bring there race car's to these event's are trying 1. different tune's or new setup's 2. trying to get practice at the tree. Cause I know when i go out there. It's to play around in my buddy's race car legally minus the nhra license that will be needed soon

its great just the way it is, and alot of fun
dont like it, go faster
and i think slicks have to be allowed, the faster cars would be tearing the crap out of the track using radials when they are not setup for them
i know I took a chunk out once or twice on the radials, and felt bad

Looks pretty good.

I think the Quick 8's are being run well and the rules work nicely. Have to keep it simple. I think I will try find a white board to donate for these events so we can see a board with Quick 8 updates. Keep it up.

I think the Quick8's are fine as-is, but it'd be fun to have something for us slower guys. As it goes now we're pretty much just racing against the clock. It'd be nice to get lined up in groups running similar ETs.

i know I took a chunk out once or twice on the radials, and felt badI wasn't saying that any of the cars that I have seen in the Q8s wouldnt make it! It's something that I have read and seen done at bigger tracks and thought it was kind of cool. Of course they have more cars (like hundred or so at the bigger events). They have a winner in each second class, like a 8 sec, 9 sec and so on. We are only dealing with 8 cars so its not going to happen but I thought that I would just put it out there to see if they could think out side of the box and get a few different things in there. I also like the fact that slick are in the groove only the track is amazing. Last year I couldn't leave hard at all!

Charge a nominal fee and have some of/all of the proceeds go to the winner. Then you'd see the guys who know what their car can do run their cars as consistently as they can and have something to race for?
I know bracket racing isn't the "fun" way to race, but it really puts the pressure on the driver to be consistent and it levels the playing field.
Just a thought.... I obviously have no control over what track does for events, just adding an option to the conversation.

Brackets or an Index class might be interesting, but that of course means having someone willing to run it.

I think brackets would be fun.

I am wondering why the original Quick 8 rules have been modified.
http://www.fargostreet.com/forums/showthread.php?19392-Quick-8-the-Street-LegalsWhen you guys brought that up I started looking for that thread but I couldn't track it down from my phone at the track and Ethan and I just couldn't remember. I do think the decision to cut it off at 28x10 last weekend was the right one since that's what was on the rule handouts.

Also, the FWD cars wouldn't stand a chance obviously, unless they take there slicks out on the road, and even some of the RWD cars would have trouble, so I think a tire change will need to be allowed.
