Sure, why not. I will do that.Since we will be the one taking the 275 trophy home with us anyway. Anyone have any objection to the idea or me picking out the trophy??? I will find a sponsor for it anyway.

I am sure Ethan will appreciate it.

Even if the rods were hanging out of that BBC ,it would still be quicker than whatever it is you drive. If the rod hit you in the head at least it would knock some sense into you. Well maybe not,if your a ford lover there is no helping you. Pack your lunch!!hehehehehehehe

Not when someone leaks/breaks something and then proceeds to track it straight down the groove all the way to the very end of the shut down, that's when a kick and fine will be issued.

That is what you signed up for when you decided to buy a race track. I feel for you. No fun when that happens. Good luck cleaning up all those m Mustang anf Toyota parts. This Chevy will run clean and dry all the way.

Yes and no, I fully expected to clean up when something happens and have no problem with that. I do have a problem with someone blowing a motor at the 330 and coasting to the very end of the track staying in the groove the whole time. This resulted in a three hour clean up and ultimately the day was over before we were back to racing. Situation like this will result in a fine (100% serious about putting a fine in place btw). Situations were something breaks and the driver makes at least a minimal attempt to get his/her vehicle stopped and/or pulled over with not be fined and penalized points.

Here is NHRA Nationals oildown policy, just for shits and giggles...

COMP, SS, STOCK, SC, SG, SST, TD, & TS PENALTIES:
First violation of an event (after use of credit) will result in a two hundred fifty dollar ($250) fine, plus:
Β· If during qualifying, violation will also result in loss of five (5) NHRA Lucas Oil points. and the loss of elapsed time and mph for that run. Times will be voided for qualifying position, subsequent qualifying session run order, and national records.
Β· If during eliminations, violation will also result in loss of ten (10) NHRA Lucas Oil points. and the loss of elapsed time and mph for that run. If on a winning run, driver will advance, however, times will be voided for lane choice, and national records. Should two drivers violating this policy meet in the following round, lane choice will be determined in the normal manner.

Second violation at same event will result in a five hundred dollar ($500) fine, plus:
Β· If during qualifying, loss of ten (10) NHRA LODRS points. and loss of elapsed time and mph.
Β· If during eliminations, loss of twenty (20) NHRA LODRS points. and loss of et and mph.

Subsequent violations will result in an NHRA review of teams’ season performance. As a result of that review, further action may be taken as determined by NHRA. Action may vary from probation, to a requirement to test, or denial to participate at future National Events.

example: PSCA Super Street Car Nationals 2010-2011,both years had more crashs, blowups and oil downs that I have ever seen. Over 100 each year. No fines to their racers for any of the carnage. It is just part of racing and owning a drag strip.

Just my opinion,if a guy/gal is doing his best to put on a good show, for your spectators by the way, and blows up his /her junk. Then after they get their car off the track, you give them their fine. How fast do you want them back racing at the track, when they have to incur more debt by paying that fine. Might be the difference between racing 1 time or the entire season. Sound like lost track income to me. But what do I know. I have owed a dragstirp for 5 years and worked at it for 12 years and if I charged people a fine for all the times they made a mess on the track. I think, I would own most of the cars that race there. Not trying to tell you how to run your business. Just words for wisdom. Racers are a different breed.

I agree, racers are a different breed. I am not talking major fines and not for someone dripping a few drops of oil or tranny fluid on the track. Of all of the oil downs we had this season, three would have been looked at as a possibility of a fine (two for sure would have been fined) one was a big turbo on a stock motor, blew at the 300 ft mark and coasted to the farthest part of the track before even moving to the side, the other blew about the same time and did the same thing. Racer told me he had not done anything at all with the motor for over 7 years. We had 21 major oil downs and countless small incedents were someone dripped some oil, all of which I would not even concider looking at as a fine. I welcome anyone to bring cars to the track and push them and not be worried about a fine, if a racer completly grenads his/her motor and covers the entire width of the track in red line oil yet they get stopped and pulled over as quickly and safely as possilbe, or even attempt to. I won't even think of mentioning a fine. The amount we are talking about is 100-200 dollars, both incedents cost roughly 600-800 dollars in materials plus the down time. The small fine will not do much for covering cost, it is more to incourage people to maybe check the oil more often and if something does happen, at least try to slow down (break lights never even came on with the first one).I am not out to put people into debt, nor to charge every single person for one drop of oil on the track.
