Hey looks like I may be moving down to Fargo here in the next couple of weeks. I'm just wondering where the nice apartments are to live. In a perfect world it would have the following:

    • 1 or 2 bedrooms, not a huge deal, I can get away with a 1 bedroom
    • Double car garage, so I can work on the car and not have to worry about room
    • Decent area/neighbors. I'd prefer to not be around the low-income housing crowd or welfare families...they tend to not respect other people's personal property.
-I'd like to find a place that allows pets, but I know the odds of that are pretty slim. I have a Boxer that would break my heart to get rid of, but I think I found a nice family to take him.

I'm not really looking to spend much more than $550/month if necessary. I have a place to stay until September so I'm not in such a huge rush...but if I could find a place that fits the requirements I'd probably go for it. Thanks guys.

Don't go with Goldmark. They own a ton of apartments in the area so its kinda hard to avoid them, but I've heard terrible things about them.

You would be hard pressed to find all of those things in one for that price.

I'd be willing to make some compromises...just looking for names and suggestions...I have no idea what's good in Fargo.

I haven't been in Fargo that long, but I rent with PRG and I like them. I've heard Van Raiden (I think that's how its spelt) is a good company too.

Goldmark is hardcore...but honestly, they don't really have many surprises. Follow the check out sheet and you'll get your deposit back. Just make note of EVERYTHING with them...they will with you, so keep a paper trail. While they are Nazis, they also get your shit fixed in a hurry, etc. While I'll agree you should avoid them, it's not the end of the world if you have to live there.

I'm with valley rental in a development off amber valley that allows pets, also has everything on your list. My building also has free cable and internet and washer/dryer in unit. They're nazis too but they are pretty upfront about it. Price on my 3 bedroom is $915 tho.

i found it much cheaper to buy a house. i bought a duplex $650 month mortgage with taxes and insurance. 3 bed 2 bath 2 kitchen 2 living and laundry room big 2 car garage. easily rented out the one half for $450 so $200 a month and i get paid 50k or better to move out after 10 years, unlike still paying to move out after 10 years.

If you don't mind you should give some info on the duplex. Who was selling, was it brand new etc. I've though of the idea of doing that just never have taken the steps to start.

At $650/month including escrow I'm willing to bet it is not new. Did you get buy the whole duplex or just one side?

bought the whole thing from the next of kin of a deceased lady for $110k, a real good buy but not quite a steal like a foreclosure. as for size its about 3.5x the size of my $550/mo apartment(whole building)
