Paint Problems
-
Been trying to get a Cervinis Stalker bumper painted. we've called cervinis and followed their instructions, sanding the inside and outside of the bumper with plastic cleaner and a red scuff pad multiple times, and then tried to spray our adhesion promotor on there.
As soon as we spray adhesion promotor on it, it bubbles up and then starts to run on off the panel.Heres what we've tried
Hot soapy water wash with red scuff pad.
Duponts 2319s plastic cleaner, with and without a red scotchbrite scuff pad
dupon 3909s final klean
Dupont 2310s sanding paste
Dupont 105 thinner
PPG's DX103
PPG's Dx101 sanding paste.any help please!

this is the only adhesion promotor we've had...never had problems with it before..
been thinking about skipping the adhesion promotor step but that just seems like its gonna come back to haunt us after its all painted..dont want all the paint to flake off 2 weeks down the road ya know..
Duponts 2320s adhesion promotor vv

Ok what your running into is the mold release from Sanding the bumper its a bitch to deal with trust me. Imo don't use dupont that shit sucks yeah I work for ppg paints and I have used dupont before and had people use it don't waste time. What u need to do is take it all off and start with a true waterbased primer sealer its the only stuff that will not react with the mold resin. As for pre prep u need the system from one choice its a 3 step includes a saturated scuff pad ,prep pad ,and advanced plastic bond in a rattle can. Hope this helps,

Also the dx103 is a good prep cause of the anti-static part of the cleaner but when I use it it seems to streak more then others also flashes a bit slower. I like using dx 330 but the one I choose is dx394 its not super harsh and should work well for not irritating the plastic.

anyway. been thinking about this pain in the ass bumper...and since its a Urethane injection bumper and its made out of urethane do we really need to use a plastic adhesion promotor?
the primer, sealer, base, and clear are all urethane products, wouldnt they all bond together?
