I'm going to be in the same situation. I'm removing my stock spoiler and the radio antenna. I was thinking of just using some rubber plugs and trying to paint them to match the body.

yeah, you need to weld the holes shut, grind, sand and repaint

Hey! Who told you my secret? Nah, I used electrical tape to cover the holes when I took off my spoiler, it was only temporary so it's alright. 😄

dont be dumb. if you weld the holes the metal will warp. I have welded on bodies of cars before and it warped with the lowest heat possible. Your best bet is to get a new trunk lid.

it has holes for a stock wing, and its green not the color of my car. it would have to get sprayed inside and out.

Not if you know what you are doing. I welded in a roll pan, and a filler piece for my tailgate handle with no warping at all.

I have been a professional welder for two and a half years, i'm only 19 years old. I know how to weld, so dont judge if you dont know me or my abilities. I was welding with a lincoln 300 welder. It doesnt turn down any lower than 12 amps and still welded a hole up the size of a quarter. You want to talk welding we can go at it. 😄

my holes are a 1/4 of an inch so i dont think it will warp the metal to weld those up

Read your post, it doesnt say anything about your welder YOU used. Its just you telling him not to do it because you warped the metal on your car.

And you're 19 and you are a "professional" welder since you were 16? Seems to me a "professional" would know the basics of welding expansion and contraction that causes welding and would use the right equipment for the job.

I may not know you, but you stated your abilities yourself and tried to pass your opinion off as fact. Im telling him otherwise.

Just take your time, work in small tacks and move from side to side, let the welds air cool and you should be fine.
