I have a 97 GSX.

I run a large Forced Performance turbo, the FP3065

Current transmission is great, it's as far from stock as you can possibly get, so my info isn't much good for your situation.
-
You can run the 3 bolt rear end for quite a while as long as you're careful with it. When I had a 1G a few years ago, I broke a rear axle on the street with only a MBC, filter, 3" turbo back, and centerforce clutch. It's all about how you launch the car.

Just like someone said, be prepared for that car to break the bank!!

In response to your reply on #3.

I talked to Shep and he said that a standard rebuild will hold what I want to do easily. -

- my transfer case was fixed under a recall. so far ive gotten a new battery, o2 sensor, and plug wires.
99% of dsms on this board > mine.
from 92 to 99, dsm's have 4 bolt rear ends. Late 92 to 99 dsm's have 7 bolt motors.
I had a big 16g. I hated it, I wanted bigger. -
Remember to check out http://www.dsmtrader.com if you're looking for parts too. I picked up a 4bolt rear for $150 a couple years back.
-
That is correct. The 4 bolt out of that white AWD car is in Kevin's red car.
