my ex was into punk VERY heavily so i know mainstream punk and underground punk very well. i have to say there isn't a whole lot of difference as far as lyrics go. i will say the same for rap. a lot of the lyrics are repeated and what not, but its all personal preference its what you like. i personally don't like punk very much because of all the kids who flip out when someone goes "sells out" and shit like that. it just pisses the hell out of me. i use to like the stuff, but punk kids ruined it for me. oh and emo is a style of punk music, like screamo, and ska. so emo is still punk.

Most rappers can hardly fricken talk. Listen to 50 cent talk once, just a bunch of mumble. Personally, I don't like rap. Some guy that can't even talk, repeating the same lines over and over, and getting rich off it? Eh, not my liking. What I usually do is flip through radio stations and find whatever good song is on, doesn't matter what type of music. I rarely listen to CD's because I get sick of the artist after like 2 songs. Anyways, I guess people can listen to whatever they want to.

Punk Rock sucks. It took a shit dive after Green Day left, maybe they'll revive it, but now...its sucks.

no punk died with the vandals and the sex pistols green day isnt punk maybe there first album. i would much rather listen to some person whining about that shit then some ass makeing a fool of him self on stage, talking about killing and rapin bull shit, dont get me wrong i love rap, but its the same thing with all types of MUSIC

What the hell do punkers do on stage to not look like total idiots. Cut their hair in mo hawks, wear plaid pants and dog the wrist band with dog collar bone necklace? Punk rockers suck, and so does their music. Ill never get into the Punk Rock scene again now that these lil girly bands with guitars took over and totally killed it. I'll take the UP AND GROWING type of music, rap of course, any day of the week. -

Man it's way more then that. You could listen to some song, and then a recorder from another label will hear it and will tell their rapper 'hey this guy said thsi about you, now we gotta respond' and when they respond, they take it to the next level and get it to involve personal lives which is sweet. I have no problem with the people who like punk rock and like i said before, some of their riffs are sweet..but I just believe its more of the same. Rap you can listen to lyrics, other rapper spits, lyrics..its more versatile I think. -

Very true, you will never convince someone that one kind of music is better than their favorite. There's very talented artists in both Punk and Rap (and all other forms of music too) and then there is the crap that gets played on the radio....bleh. I prefer rap, and am glad that there are groups out there that are finally getting their due respect/airtime (Outkast for example....Andre 3000 and Big Boi are very very talented).
