A quick exerpt from Vision's song "Close Minded"

Ya know, everyone's always saying "You're really close minded.
You only listen to one type of music, and only go to one type of show."
And I say "Well, you know what, this is the type of music that we grew up on,
This is the type of music that we play. Punk rock is our way of life.
It's how we chose to live, and everyone else's opinion is worth nothing.
Don't worry about what I listen to, worry about your own life.
Cause I'm not gonna change for you or anyone. I can't help it if you don't like it.
And it's up to me if I don't wanna listen to anything else.
It's whats in our blood, it flows through our veins.
So save your breath, cause we're here to stay."

Good screamo band: Smoke Blow. They're German, and have been touring with the Distillers recently.

rap today is just about bitches and getting drunk/high.. or 'bustin' a cap in some muthafucka, dizawg.' its all the same.
Man it's way more then that. You could listen to some song, and then a recorder from another label will hear it and will tell their rapper 'hey this guy said thsi about you, now we gotta respond' and when they respond, they take it to the next level and get it to involve personal lives which is sweet. I have no problem with the people who like punk rock and like i said before, some of their riffs are sweet..but I just believe its more of the same. Rap you can listen to lyrics, other rapper spits, lyrics..its more versatile I think.

either way you go there is a general trend of what songs are based on. its all personal preference, if you like punk your gonna favor punk, if you like rap your gonna favor rap. no one is gonna win this arguement.

Very true, you will never convince someone that one kind of music is better than their favorite. There's very talented artists in both Punk and Rap (and all other forms of music too) and then there is the crap that gets played on the radio....bleh. I prefer rap, and am glad that there are groups out there that are finally getting their due respect/airtime (Outkast for example....Andre 3000 and Big Boi are very very talented).

Haven't heard that guy since about 92 when he had a "semi-hit" in Mr Dobolina (sp?). I think I still have that CD around somewhere.

Are they rap or turntablism? I seem to remember ( DJ? ) abilities rocking hard.

Yup, they have some good stuff they put out. I'm not all about big named people. I listen to punk as well as rap, I wasn't trying to say one is better, because I listen to one or the other depending on my mood.

Mostly anything with a driving beat (which is why I can bear some rap, but not all) and the same goes for punk, techno, and rock.

Me personally i would prefer to listen to a mumbling gangsta thug rapper than a whiny pre-pubescent freak with make up on in a dog collar and plaid pants. All in all though give me a nice bass line and some rolling snares and i am set. I my friends am all about the drum n bass. Followed by the trancending mood of trance and house music. They alway take me back to home in my mind and make me miss my family and friends in England. 😮
