Also, are there any of you that compete in either IASCA or USAC? If so, which powerclass? Are you a sound quality person or SPL? Are you interested in competition but have never competed?

Myself, I've done everything from SPL to Sound Quality (USAC and IASCA) as well as judge SQ for IASCA. I personally prefer sound quality w/ a little extra bump in the bass region for my personal ride. Current project will probably be a SQ vehicle, but I might enter it in SPL just for kicks.

I don't mind having a good sound system in my car but I want to be able to easily remove it. That would be the plan if I was able to put a custom sound system in. Sometimes you want to cruise with tunes and sometimes you want to cruise for a quarter mile at a time. OPTIONS.

I am into sounds... But dont know anything about competition. I just like music, so sounds are my thing. Right now i am ridin with an Alpine CDA 9831 deck, type r 6 1/2" components in front, 6 1/2" type r coax's for rear fill that i run off the deck when i have passengers in the rear, an alpine MRV F345 V12 amplifier, and a 12" JL Audio W3 sub in my SI. It isnt anything special but it is enough to keep my ears happy

i am into SQ but am afraid of the weight consequences because my car is already a pig. My car came with stock JBL speakers and a sub, but that is all i have. I really like the whole custom enclosure stuff. Like havin speakers in unique spots.

I love car stereo systems. I had a fairly good one and thought about competing, but then it got STOLEN!

i'm a sq type of guy myself. i use to be big into stereo systems, but then 2 months before college started two years ago someone broke out the back window of my car and stole out approx 1500 dollars in stereo equipment. then i had college and no money so i kinda fell out of the stereo craze. i still have to have a descent system, but i go for moderate weight and nice sound quality.so, it doesn't effect your speed as much 🙂 lmao

I have done both sq and spl, I have gone to 10 comps or so, and placed in most of them. When I had my probe I won regions in DL, in my power class. I hit 153 db with two 15". Then I kinda went to sq after that. I have also placed in sq comps to. Right now I have a little of both, but I would def say it is more of an sq car than a spl car. I can still hang with most systems out there. I am a big fan of SQ myself, just love good clean music.

Decent subs are always gonna rattle a car 😞 . Try using a sound deadener to clean it up. I found a Dynamat trunk kit on Ebay for 60 shipped and it has probably been the best car audio investment I have made.

Yeah, sound deadening material works wonders for rattles....but it adds weight. I kinda like the Cascade brand of liquid sound deadener, weighs less than conventional dynamat and works well.
