Hey I got back about a week ago with a new car. I bought a 99 vett. I was wondering if anyone knows of any "cheep" mods for it.

Its not where the car came from its how fast it can get away from there

I'd imagine you could have it chipped, put a better exhaust on it and maybe an intake for not too terribly much money

TB bypass is free. As for cheap....it's a vette. Nothing is super cheap. I would start off with a lid, catback, and headers. Then decide what you want to do from there.

That would be the only reason I would buy a vette is to go Lingenfelter on its ass. Only way it would be worth the bad gas mileage.

LPE TT 427 vette gets around 28 mpg highway....thats not too bad.

I don't know If I would take it to LPE. You basically are paying for the name, there are plenty of other builders out there capable of the amount of power the LPE vette, with reliability, for about half the price.

ok, thats 28 mpg RATED highway.....what vette owner actually sees this???
how many actually use there vette just to drive on the highway to get thie mileage???

I like vettes due to the original cost of them for the performance....but id never own one due to how much they cost to repair, and how much they depreciate.....chevy has had some good ones, honestly i believe is one of the only things keeping GM going right now, especially with all the recalls they got. When was the last MAJOR MASS RECALL honda has done???? or any other import?, im only hearing of the big threes recently. But all in all, I like the vette....its just not me.

I was just saying it gets about 28 highway, which isn't bad for 800 hp, I would like to see other companies do this. As for repair costs and depretiation, I don't agree. As for the recals, Honda just had a major one for their accords. At least the GM recals havn't been parts that affect the safety of the drivers. The only reason GMS recall was so sever was because they use the same part (kinda insignificant) in ALL there SUVs, and when you are the largest SUV producer in the world, the number of recalls are large as well.

For the gas mileage, It was for the LPE 427 TT 800 hp vette. The gas mileage is almost identical to a stock vette. Also, yes, many LS1 vette owners see that on the highway. Hell, my car gets 2 mpg high than it was rated stock.

so this doesn't get any more off topic I decided to get a list of recalls for you all to download. Don't argue on here, its not gonna do any good. Just click this link http://www-odi.nhtsa.dot.gov/downloads/folders/Recalls/FLAT_RCL.zip and read for yourself. I haven't even looked at it close enough to see who has more, because frankly i don't care. Open it using Excel btw

fucking volvo's recall all the damn time, but most of the time its for some small, not really safety BS, that no american company would ever recall

I love the vette old and new. I saw it the other day over by the highschool on my way to work. It looked pretty sexy, not a fan of the color though 😞
