I need to run a laptop (for realtime rom editing and basemapping) and don't want to spend the $160 on a new battery for it. Is a power inverter safe enough or should I just come up with the money for the battery?

Will the battery hold a charge for at least a little while?

Maybe you could run an extension cord. Im sure everyone could borrow you a couple feet. You could probably end up with atleast a mile of cord. 😄

But an inverter should work fine.

I charged the battery over night and got a whopping 10 minutes out of it. 😞
I'm not Mr. super tuner this is going to be an 1hr + job next week.

Next question: what size power inverter should I use?

Just making sure it will hold a charge if power to the inverter is cut for a split second. You should be fine w/ a 300w inverter.

A power inverter will work perfectly fine for you. I have to use one in my POS because my POS laptop batteries don't hold a charge just like that. Just pick one up at like Walmart or something and you'll be fine.
