Motorcyclist dies after Fargo accident

A motorcyclist died Tuesday, a day after he collided with a pickup truck in south Fargo.

Daniel M. Trevino of Fargo died about 5 p.m., an Innovis Hospital spokeswoman said. She said he was 21.

The accident occurred about 6:30 p.m. Tuesday on the 4400 block of 17th Avenue South.

The motorcycle was westbound on 17th Avenue South when it struck a pickup that had been eastbound but was turning north into a construction area, police said.

The pickup driver, Jason J. Gion of Fargo, was not injured, authorities said.

Police said in a news release Tuesday afternoon that no additional details about the crash would be released until they conclude their investigation. Trevino worked part time as a phlebotomist at PRACS Institute in Fargo, said owner Dr. James Carlson.

"The staff had been worried, concerned, upset and making inquiries about him all day long," Carlson said. "It tells me he has a lot of friends and staff support."

I met him a few times and I thought he was alright. I didnt believe it at first when I was told he died. kinda crazy.

Yeah, i had nothing against him, he always waved to me when ever we passed by one another, talked to him one time i think... seemed to be a nice guy

that is awful, I met the guy acouple times when he came through the taco bell drive through and saw all the emergency vehicles take off that day. Just wow, my prayers go out to his family and friends.

I heard about this accident from one of my roommates. I assumed the worst when he said authorities were taking measurements.

It does indeed suck that someone so young died, especially with a kid that has to grow up without a Dad now.

With skull fractures that 97cav mentioned I'd assume this meant he wasn't wearing a helmet. Hopefully (altho doubtful) that this puts all the bike guys out there on alert that you need to wear a helmet riding around town. I know this makes me sound like a old guy (and I am) but I've been riding/racing motorcycles for over 20 years, and a helmet has saved my life at least 2 different times that I can think of (once where I crashed on my own and the bike landed on my head). It doesn't matter that a helmet doesn't make you look cool and it messes up your hair. It will keep your melon intact when you crash and that is all that matters.
