Did anyone make it to the Alerus Centers autocross event... I wasn't able to make it and I'm wondering if they set it up like last year that they were catching air?
-
it appeared from where i was at that they were catching air on the outbound lane at the mid point.
was a hot day that is for sure.

i must have been hearing things then. when that duster went across it sure sounded like free spinning wheels then a big chirp as he hit asphalt again.
could have been the heat making me delirious though.Monty

Love that first shot of the black subie..

i do not recall the skyline being there. there was a white Silvia.
then again i am far from an expert on these kind of cars. one day i hope to be.Monty
-
unfourtunately the skyline wasn't there. i was looking forward to that. and as far as the white "silvia" goes, it was just a 240sx with silvia badges on it that you can buy off ebay. silvias are only sold in japan. not sure if he had a swap or anything. it was a nice car but i'm not a fan of putting jdm badges on usdm cars.
-
i read on the winnipeg forum that he did not have his suspension yet, the skyline.
as for the silvia..well i saw badging and called it that. since i am far from knowing the difference of JDM or USDM. it was pretty clean though.so is this skyline legit then?
where i read about his suspension he was saying he had an STI before the skyline and its AWD was superior.Monty
-
i suppose advancement help out a bit.
he was talking about the proportions and when they were applied.
whatever though.Monty
-
will have to find that thread and link it.
i do not recall exactly what he said so i will not comment.
and well i did not even know til verry recently that skylines were AWD. tells you how much i know about the imports.Monty

do r32s have electronically adjustable power distribution? didn't think so!Yeah but GT-Rs are 100% RWD until the car has some rear wheel slipping then they switch to 50/50 power distribution... I dont know for sure, but I dont think an STi can do that?
I do beleive the skyline is still hailed as having the best power distribution to date... and no one has re-created it yet.

As far as i know the best awd system to date is the audi quattro or the vw 4motion. As well as the Evo 8 has an outstanding stabuity system in it. The quattro system was banned from many racing events because they far superior. As for the Subaru having a good AWD system (they do) but is has been campared to the 70s verson of the Quattro system.

meh, skylines arent all their cracked up to be.
hooraw. saw an R34 at HIN. didnt jaw drop or anything.

Subaru's AWD all the time which makes them a great candidate for WRC type events compared to AWD systems that only apply power to the front wheels when they detect wheel spin. Subaru pretty much pioneered the modern AWD system and is considered by many to be the only real competition that Jeep has for AWD/4WD design and enginuity and reliability. I'm not saying the Quattro is a bad AWD system as I've never driven a quattro, just stating what I have read/heard, so take it for what its worth
