Tell me where I am a racist. I'm sorry if they can't find high paying jobs when they come here, but that begs the question: Why come then? If none of them can find good jobs why do they come here, why do they tell their friends/family to come here? I'll give you a hint, its not the weather. As for the language they speak, as its been said before, when you move to a country you should learn the language of that country if you plan on staying there for a period of time, I'm not saying give up your old language entirely, just speak the language of your country when you are around other countrymen. Think about it, if we were in a group of Bosnians and a bunch of us grouped together and started talking German/Norwegian/Chinese/Japanese/whatever and started laughing, don't you think they would think we're talking about them? Guess what, it happens every time I'm in a lot with them. Also, like I said above, my ancestors spoke German when they initially came here from German/Russia. They LEARNED THE LANGUAGE. Yes, my grandparents could/can still speak German, but they don't do it in public. They learned that they needed to let go of their native tongue to fit in in this foreign (to them) land. Apparently it worked pretty well for them.

The key to learning to make a living is learning to adapt to the needs of a job market. Part of those needs are being able to speak the language of your supervisor/customers. This is not being racist, this is just a fact.

The difference between immigration today and immigration 100 years ago is simple: 100 years ago people came her to START a better life for them and their families, today they come here to GET a better life (all nationalities fall under this).

Yes, I have been around them, as a matter of fact the janitor/dishwasher/bussers that i was reffering to, I work with on a regular basis, and I have lived in the same apt. buildings as them in south fargo.

They come here because they are from a war torn nation full of hunger, death, disease, and a horrible government system. The shitty jobs that they get here are 10X better than any job they are getting over their. The ones that immigrate here aren't the wealthy businessmen and women, they are the ones that are struggling to get by and will do anything to keep their family alive and healthy. They come here to give their children a better life. They come here for many reasons, the ones I listed being the major ones.

You don't see a huge immigration rate comming from other developed areas (eg: canada, england, france, etc...) do you? No. Why? Because, plain and simple these places don't suck to live. Underdeveloped countries do. If we wanted these people to stop comming here then we should help their country become more like us instead of placing sanctions on them and fucking them even worse, but that will never happen.

i've kind of refrained from posting in this thread for a bit, just becuase there are somethings I agree with, and disagree with.

Here's the thing with racism, and anybody that has a head on thier shoulders knows, that you can't judge an entire race by a small representation of the entire population, so to generalize them as the "bosnians" speaking as a whole, is in my opinion wrong. Perhaps to be more specific, you could say the bosnians involved in the local car scene. Politically correct bullshit? maybe, but it is a sensitive subject when people are grouped (or choose to be not assimilate) like this.

For any of you know, the Hmoung people in the twin cities are generally regarded as peices of shit becuase the unusually high crime rate, their non-desire to assimilate, and the culutural differences... This is cuased by a few things, one of the main reasons being they come in such large quantities that they do not HAVE to assimilate, they form thier own communities, that often butt heads with the existing ones. I'm Korean by the way, so I am in no way defending them...

But there again, as you all might remember in the LA Riots, it was basically Korean people vs. Black people, there again a difference in culture, the Korean people took advantage of the blacks economically, not right in my opinoin, but either was the way the blacks took thier anger out on them...

On the topic of speaking the language, and it not being english. What the fuck are you thinking? I guarentee that if you ever got your ignorant white ass out of america, which you obviously will never do, you'd be the one speaking english in a foreign country, and feeling superior becuase YOUR english languge is better, right? This is where America has succeeded in the past, where others have failed. Can America sustain itself with this high level of immigration today? Who knows, but as there are more and more of them, and if the current political system continues, we will continue to see more and more representation of them in the inner workings of the country.

Ive had bad experiences with the bosnians, kurdish, and other segments of the car people in town, some of them due like to steal things, they do like to group together, and be dick heads. But wait, so do the white people here. Who are the people who break in to cars and steal tons of stereos and cd players, and beat people up for thier thigns? yeah, white people, oh wait, they are just as much of a problem! BUT HERE IS THE THING! Due to the lack of diversity here, you CANNOT just say, oh its the white people, or oh, its the trailer trash on the west side. White people, or whatever you want to call yourself, are just a big of a problem here, but the percentage of problem white people to the total population here is much smaller. Its pure numbers you guys. Put ALL of us (no im not white but you know what I mean), in the same situation, in slums, impoverished, and underprivilaged, and you can bet your ass there would be MANY more problems. Is it right what the bosnian people do? No, but learn how to fucking deal with it you babies! They are the minority plain and simple, and every associated problem goes along with it. To answer the question on, how do they get here? They are often sponsored to get there, by agencies such as Lutheran Social Services. Now LSS is not a bad organization, but I dont always agree on how agencies like these operate. You bring a large group of people over here who come from underprivilaged countries (think back, vietnam etc..), and you give them a place to live, and bring them some hot dish once and while, but otherwise just dump there here. Well what the fuck? Umm... try bringing underprivilaged American white trash and giving them a place to live, and hot dish once a while in another country, can you honestly tell me they would do much better? Would they take advantage of the system? Prob.

So by the government providing a somewhat centralized form of support, which i already know most of you on this board disagree with, if you were stuck in thier same unfortunate situation, what would you do. Most of them are young, had hard lives the entire time, is it fair that tax dollars support them? thats up to your own personal oppinion, but even if they don't show it, or dont even know it, they SHOULD appreciate it. But its hard to appreciate things, when life still sucks... not making excuses for people who take advantage of the system mind you, but for the people who do use it ligitmately, it can be wonderful.

How do they afford thier cars? I dont know. Do we know for sure they take advantage of the system? yes. Is it right? No. Should they be using the money for something else like bettering thier lives? yes, thats the purpose of it, but as you SEE it eventually will work itself out, they will either fall further in to a pit and be excluded eventually, OR they will better themselves, and even if they dont take the time to be grateful, they will have been a success.

I have met some nice bosnian / kurdish people, they I dont mind one bit, in fact they are hard working individuals. Are some of them fuckers? hell yeah! Look, I wasn't born here, I was adopted in to a white family... but do I still experience some of that shit? yeah. Do I view things from a white persons view becuase im a banana? yeah, mostly but just think about it perspectively.

If you agree or not, it simply isnt fair to group an entire RACE as POS, becuase im sure not ALL of the bosnians are here in fargo. The ones that are around cars, and do stupid shit, yeah sure, but judge them as individuals not as a race.

I agree with what Jim is saying as well. The thing that has pretty much made America great is its diversity and multi-ethnicity. Having said that, nearly every other culture that has come to America has adopted English as their primary language...including white people from Germany/France/Spain/Russia/Italy/Portugal/Norway/etc... so I'm not buying into the "they don't have to speak the language" bit. If someone is struggling with the language but making a serious attempt to learn it, I can live with that. The thing that irritates me is when groups (pick your nationality) come here and expect us to change our system to accomodate them when they CHOSE to leave their country to make a good life here. Did they think that everyone here was going to be speaking their language? Yes, America is pretty arrogant, that I won't argue. And we probably would expect others to adapt to us if we went elsewhere....it still wouldn't be right.
