Well yesterday I was working on my car and trying to pressure test the piping...I never actually got to that because I found the problem before hand...it turns out I need a 3'' to 2.5'' reducer on to the throttle body. ok fine so we switched a T-bolt to that side to see if it would hold it better than the regular hose clamp. We went out for a drive and holy shit I just hit redline(without popping at WOT) but I didn't remember hitting boost or hearing a spool what so ever....so I try it again and sure enough theres no positive pressure(MAYBE 1lb) but what intrigued me the most is that my turbo didnt even try to spool...it made a very light whistle but it was not a spool noise what so ever...even if there was a HUGE boost leak(theres a decent sized problem) wouldnt the turbo still try to spool up and make some noise actually? The only thing I can think of is that the actuator doesnt work and is stuck open or the turbo is blown...does the last one sound right? I have smoke at idle and when i just get off idle...and supposedly the rear oil seals are very common to go on this turbo....does that sound like what would happen if the oil seals would go?

At first I did it for fun, then I realized I made the investment and had to do it!

Yeah the turbo should still spool and make some noise. Maybe take off the intake pipe and run the car and rev it up to see if it still spins. Or you could just take off that POS turbo setup and swap on a top mount T4 manifold and a nice little T4 😉

Yeah I had a similar problem with my actuator being stuck open and it wouldn't make any boost. I fixed that problem and then blew up my battery. The Talon will be gone this week though.:)

Tony just get rid of that thing and cut your loss. Your talon is lookin like a gem compared to this thing.

i have a reducer that you could pretty much have if you need it. if you need a new turbo might be able to help you there to

            PM me for:
            Sandblasting(I use glass beads)
            Diesel repairs or performance products.

I'm not gonna give up on it...i basically shoulda just redone the swap when i got the car...it woulda been faster by now...a new turbo is definately around the corner but i dont wanna spend any money on mods until i can be certain its gonna fix the problem or the problems are fixed...i need a 3'' to 2.5'' reducer before i can make any more assumptions or anything...

A boost leak of that magnitude would probably be pretty loud and noticeable. Either the turbo isn't getting sufficient exhaust flow or it's not rotating. Hey, if it's stationary, you have one of those $69.95 supercharge any car deals. 🙂 Anyway, it's a nice excuse for a new turbo.

im happy you wasted almost a year not drivin your talon, finally drive it, a nice 1g at that and now induct another problem when things were goin well.

i think you just enjoy drivin your grand prix a lil to often.

he just needs to redue the swap himself. this is why you should be leary of buying car with swaps done.

well fixed that leak today, well the best of my ability but i need a new UICP cause idk what the hell that guy was thinking...its made for an S13 so its all cut up and shit to kind of "fit"...i cant even get the T-bolt to actually clamp onto the pipe/coupler all the way...

yeah guys learn from my problems...dont buy cars with swaps that have problems(it has been fun so far regardless of how much of a pain its been tho), or former dyno queen DSM shells with the tranny laying in the car where the front seat was....but in all honesty the $10 reducer i bought the other day was the single most expensive part ive bought since ive had the car...not bad id say for a car with problems....

At first I did it for fun, then I realized I made the investment and had to do it!

For starters idk why your so worried about t-bolts, YOU DONT NEED THEM w/ the whopping 6 psi your running. Just get a clamp on there already.

Tony just face it, you got ripped off, no excuses around it. The car has ran like complete garbage since day 1 and it still doesn't run right. I'd have fixed the problem long time ago or dumped the whole car by now.

no the T-bolt is what was on there...i cant even get it to clamp completely on the the pipe...it has nothing to do with the T-bolt...and i cant just dump the car like you tho nick...dont get me wrong id love to have a good running car by now but i just cant dump it off...the process is slow cause i dont put a lot of time into it...
