Is the tub old (I.E. cast iron)? If so, good luck cutting it.

what floor is it on. Try using a floor jack to jack it straight up, then find some wheel dollies and set it on those. you might also have to cut some studs out. if you would like me to take a look send me a pm or calll 306-7010 lv msg.

ok the tub went in so it will come out, needless to say, just to figure out how they brought it in. No doubt the door wasn't in yet, so you might wanna consider that. Also yes most older tubs are very heavy so get a few strong guys to help you move it, about 4 people would make it very managable to move around as need be. Also if you are still looking at cutting it in half a sawzall prolly won't have the bite to get through the finish on the tub, but I would suggest getting a better blade if you still want to use that otherwise, get a small hand grinder and go out and buy a cutting disk for it. prolly a couple of them, they are alittle spendy, up to 5 or more dollars a disk, but on the construction site I've yet to find something a cutting disk can't get through. we just don't use them as much as that they can get spendy if you use up 100 of them in a day. other then that I can't think of anything else, I've taken a few tubs out and they were only trouble when breaking them away from where they had been setting for years. hopefully this helps and good luck!

              Thanks for the feedback guys.

It is cast iron and I did chip away the finish down to the cast iron first. New sawsall blades didn't go through it.

The "depth of the tub" from the floor to the top of it is 18". The width of the door is like 25" so, if it can be lifted up, tipped on its side, it can be pulled out the door.

It is completely disconnected - i can move it around when I get a hammer or pry bar under it.

I don't have a small hand grinder - I'll pay good money to get this thing out - what's it worth????

I need 3 more guys to help me pull it out. I can work on it tonight after 6:00. I would bet we could have it out in 2 hours at the most. Does $20 an hour per person plus beer sound fair????

A electric die grinder with a cutoff wheel should be able to cut that biotch in half.

No need to swing by tonight

It started to break apart - just needed a bigger hammer, right Jeff 😉

8lb sledge hammer and it started to come apart. Thanks for the advice guys.

Anyone a plumber who wants to make some $$ on the side putting in the new tub?

sorry to chime in late....but...you should have simply removed the door or busted off the legs to get it out. There are a few places in the area who pay rather well for a "complete" cast iron tub. If nothing else though fargo iron and metal will give you fifty bucks for the pieces..

Getcher green hat, we are goin fishin.
