Most of North Dakota and Montana's gas comes from the Rockey Mountain area. The reason why gas is going up nation wide is now that the oil rigs and ports are down along the gulf coast instead of the rockey mountain area sending gas only to the midwest it is also having to send it to the areas that used to get their gas from the area that was hit by the storm. Other areas in the nation are the same, gas that used to be drilled near Alaska and only fuelled alaska are being shipped to the southern states, etc...

But I dont think they should be running out yet around here...it has only been a day of the crisis. What happened to all the oil that we import from other countries? We still have oil coming in and refinaries working. We are talking only 10% drop in production. With the prices this high, demand should go down and supply should go up. Therefore they should not run out in my opinion.

        10%? no, closer to 30%

Was stated that 1/3 of the nations oil came through the area that was hit by the hurricane, either through the ports from import or through the rigs in the gulf.

Demand won't likely go down far... gas companies have us by the balls...it's something we [nearly] HAVE to have to get by from day to day....

I've also read the President of Saudi Arabia contacted Bush today, saying they will up Saundi output to the united state by 1.5 million barrels.

Whats funny is that my mom called me from Rugby, ND complaining about gas prices at 5:30 today...they were $2.59 and had actually gone down overnight.

actually it is 1/10 of the refinery capabilities and 1/4 of imports.......but anyways people WILL use less gas no matter what. Not saying that they will quit buying gas, they will not use as much. This means demand will go down., if you want examples let me know....learn economics my brother.

Sorry, I'll edit for clarification. THERE ARE MANY GAS STATIONS THAT ARE RUNNING OUT IN FERGUS FALLS AND HAVING TO CLOSE UNTIL THEY CAN GET THEIR NEXT SHIPMENT LATER THIS WEEK OR INTO THE WEEKEND. This is being caused by people freaking out and filling up every time the needle moves instead of when their car gets near empty.

Well, I live in Fergus Falls and the only gas station running out of gas is a rinky dink service station in the middle of town. There going to run their tanks dry and just not fill them anymore. They will no longer be selling gas because of the prices. They also have a mech. shop and sell guns. Both of which are still going to happen and they are in no way going to close their doors. I think some people better get their facts strait and stop jumping to conclusions.

We have about 15 gas stations in town and only 15000 people. We are in no way going to run out of fuel. Who's the fucktard that started that rumor?
