odd factory turbo

well I thought i would just throw this out there and see if anyone knew anyother strange cars like this. I was looking at some cars in jamestown this weekend and ran across a 1988 pontiac sunbird GT it said turbo on it and had a factory boost gauge in the cluster. couldnt' spot and intercooler or the tell tail turbo exhaust. but I didnt' think those cars came with turbo's anyone know anything about this?

yep, there is an option for either a 2.0 or 2.0 with turbo. Know nothing about them, heard that there is an option. Just went on Kelley Blue Book and saw that there is an option for it.

I believe the engine is made in Brazil, I could be wrong though.

still might be one of those cars thats faster then anyone thinks it should be, could be fun to use to mess with ricers on the street with it!

about a year ago i was curious too, when i happened across some 15-17year old driving a red turbo grand prix heading down 25st. so i get next to him, look over and rev, he takes the bait and floors it. so i floor it drop to 2nd and floor it... i barely creep ahead up to the top of 2nd, and shifting into 3rd put some good distance on him. i'm guessing the turbo is pretty small, or was so gunked up from misuse that it couldn't do much.
i just looked around a bit... and i'm going to have to debunk that 2.0 turbo comment. gm didn't make a 2L engine (correct me if i'm wrong), they boosted a 3.1 with a t25

One of my old high school buddies used to have one, it got piss thrashed though the turbos all have a funky vented hood so there easy to tell from the regular birds. Dodge also made a turbo shadow, why?, I don't know. Maybe these are early examples of the domestic tuner market.

I think it was a turbo'd 6 really caught me off gaurd. but yeah, I think it might of been early tuners, or just trying to get power and fuel economy...

i saw a late 80's shadow on cardomain i think it was pushing 325+ hp. Mad sleeper. Did some lebarons come with turbos also?
