    hey thanks for the tip, im not allowed to have a high flow cat because i guess there highly illegale if you dont have 50,000 or more miles on your car for some reason.

      Race headers elimintate the cat completely... so yeah their very illegal. But with shorty headers you barely see any gains.

      Shit id just buy a used turbo kit from one of the MANY focus websites out there. You can find an Aero charger kit for $1200-$1500 but problem is any shaft play and its hard to get rebuild kits for them. Also they are self contained turbos meaning no oil feed or return lines. So you have to buy oil for them and check them on a regular basis otherwise youll burn it up fast.

      Check out these forums for more help. They are the best ones I have found to date, and there is always some good parts for sale cheap on the classifieds.

          thanks for the sites, and i was also wondering if a zetec works the same as a vtec i dont know much about these ford motors yet but im workin on it.

            They are based on the same idea but go about it differently. I think I maybe wrong.

                As far as the cat being illegal, it would be way more legal than any custom exhaust in the F-M area.

                    Also as far as Zetec and Vtec... the Zetec on my car is intake side only and it just adjusts the timing on the cam to allow more air in and also adds more fuel. It doesnt kick in until 5krpm, and at the same time a 2nd runner in the intake manifold opens up.

                      Most random exhaust shops will not, in any way, help you eliminate your cat. At any rate...a high flow cat (or no cat) is a STUPID idea unless you have some kind of forced induction or higher compression engine... You'll actually be losing power more than gaining it.

                        maybe not losing it but shifting the powerband a little higher and hurting your low end...if you have a 5spd it doesnt really affect you that much....a high flow cat doesnt really hurt that much cause its still restrictive as hell...

                          Actually if I were to get an off road pipe for my car it would help it... more low end power and its dyno proven 9whp 6wtq. So thats not always true... although my focus is 10:2:1 compression which is considerably bigger then his. Also mine uses fuel like a turbo car... which pisses me off.

                            modifying ANY part of the car that could affect emissions is illegal. if you're going to build your car for performance and keep your tail between your legs... buy a hybrid and forget performance, because the stuff that nets the best gains is going to require illegal modifications to see/feel those gains

                              I have heard that there is only 2 reasons you would be allowed to change your catalytic converter.

                              1)The current piece is in excess of 50,000 miles of use

                              2)The current piece is damaged beyond repair

                              So please, please, be careful around your cat, especially if you want to replace it with a higher flowing unit. Try not to accidentally drive a screwdriver or drill through it several times, or miss with a sawzall and saw it in half. Because if that happened, you would have to replace it.
