You honestly think Tice deserved more money then what he got?Nope, not at all... however the previous owner, Red McCombs, wouldn't pay a coach any more then what he was paying Tice. That's why we've been stuck with him for awhile. He would have been fired a long time ago on any other team. By far Tice is the lowest paid in the league. You ever hear the saying... "You get what you pay for?" Kinda like the Minnesota Twins... lowest payroll = crappy team.

How many other MLB teams have won 3 division titles in a row? One off year and all of a sudden they are crappy because of low payroll?

I could care less if they are a Central Division winner. They have not and will not be a World Series contender until they spend some money on a couple big hitters.

speaking of twins, Golf season looks pretty good huh?

The central division has two of the best teams in the league. Twins have just had bad luck this year. They have one of the best pitching staffs around. But who cares, it is just the AL central division, at least it isnt the nl west...........

i don't know what leagues you guys are all in but culpepper manage +8 points in yesterdays game. How the hell did that happen? Some how that late 4th quarter touchdown when he was playing against reserves made up for the 5 interceptions he made???? I'm glad he's not on my team. Although, if someone has an "ok" back up quarterback, now might be the time to see if you can trade for culpepper, he'll turn his season around sooner or later, but for now he might as well sit on your bench permenently.

...2 games behind the LAA with a 4 game series @ oakland at the end of the month.
oh by the way, if you want to get technical, 5.5 games ahead of the tiddly twinks

Sounds familiar....they should relocate to MNAgreed, but all in all they do things right. They use there minor league systems properly, spend money in the right places and still have the lowest payrolls in the league(and are competitive). I hate the Yankees with a passion and love how they try to buy championships. Anyways the twins and a's do things the right way..............\
...............now back to the football talk.

For the money we as fans pay to goto the games, I sure as hell don't want to back a team that shoots to be a "just fine" team. -

For the money we as fans pay to goto the games, I sure as hell don't want to back a team that shoots to be a "just fine" team.Well to start the year off we had plenty of good hitters that did not live up to there capabilities. Morneau, Mauer, Jones, Hunter, Stewart are each capable to hit 20 + home runs a year. ESPN had them picked to win the world series, it just didnt work out. Why waste millions of dollars on one player who can hit homeruns when they can get a couple of players that will help the team in other ways. You cant win it every year with the players that can HIT. Look at the Yankees..........So with the use of the payroll, there minor league system, and signing of free agents, I would say they are doing "Just Fine". They play the game right, hustle all the time, and are not overpayed whiny little bitches..........

I think we need at least one more great hitter that we can always depend on. Someone that we can count on to get 25-30 home runs/year without question.
And I don't think Stewart is ever going to be a 20+ home run a year hitter or even close for that matter. -
i thought this was a vikings thread!!!
Either way...the vikings suck ass this year...they need to get rid of culpepper fast!

Lets see what they do this offseason. Get rid of Hunter, Jones, and Lohse and perhaps get someone good in return.
