ive put a 1.8 from a 90 integra gs into my 90 crx. i just finally got all the kinks out of it and got it all running perfect. but it is slow, it ran 17s at the track. more than a sec. slower than with my stock engine. i also put a header, muffler, cold air intake, ported intake manifold, bigger fuel rail, and adjustable fuel pressure regulator, so im pretty sure it souldnt be that slow. i compression tested it and all cylinders were about 170 to 180. not sure why so slow, any ideas?

Timing is probably way off and its and the fuel pressurfe is probbaly way to high. Really no need for a FPR and a bigger fuel rail on a stock LS.

to adjust the timing can i just move the distributor until i find a good spot, because the place its in now makes it run the best. also its isnt an ls its a gs and i have the fuel pressure at stock, i only put the regulator on to see if i could get it to run better.

Did you pull the motor out of another running car or just buy the motor from someone. DId you swap the trans and all or just the motor? LS and GS use the same motor just a lot of GS's were auto's and have some diff options. Just cuz the motor has compression doesn't necessarily mean its still good, it could have some drastic leakdown that you wont see w/ a compression tester cuz gthe compression tester has a check valve in it and once it hits that # it holds it wether or not its bleeding down.

it was pulled from a runnin car, and apparently ran well while in the integra. we swapped the whole motor and trans. how would i check something like that, would i have to bring it somewhere, and do u think that would be exspensive.

I would start with the timing like nick said earlier. I had the timing set by ear/feel on Megan's CRX earlier this summer and it ran 2 seconds slower at the track. Turns out it was off by 2.5 degrees. Use a timing light. 🙂

No offense but you did a motor swap and you don't know what a timing light is or how to use it? Cam gears could possibly be off if its that far down on power.

A timing light either uses induction to detect voltage through the #1 spark plug wire, or it hooks up to the distributor. You disable the ECU's control over the timing, loosen the distributor just enough to rotate it, locate the timing marks on the engine and crank pulley, run the engine, point the light at the timing marks, and squeeze the trigger. Then you rotate the distributor very slightly until the timing is set where you want it.
