Mustangs are gay

I think I am just going to start over. I am going to get a 351 block this time around. My heads and such should swap right over, but the intake won't.

it should have ran colder
good theory u had thoughwell I hope he either confirms or denies that. I was going to use that theory to break into the 13s this weekend...
Even picked up some extra coolant incase I want to push a little more... -
Well, you are right about it being a coolant issue. The car smokes and it smells burnt. Coolant is entering the combustion chamber somehow, and this time I am not force feeding it through the intake. So it must be either a block to head gasket issue, or a head to lower intake issue. There is also a bit of rod bearing knock to this free block that I aquired, so if it is block to head, then I am just tearing it all out again, and starting over, again, this time more likely with a 351 if I am actually forced to pay for a shortblock.
This is the story of a stubborn Mustang that wanted to remain stock for the rest of it's life. Might as well have, still not going to be fast when all is said and done. Even if it were running properly right now, it would be a miracle if it broke into the 12s.

from a fello mustang owner thats just not cool! its in no way the cars fault for breaking, every car will break when something is half assed, improperly done or beatin on. so suck it up and fix it or sell it and find a new hobby
this coming from a guy that has more broken shit on his car then not

I'll just ignore the thread title because I know you don't really think that. You have learned a lot of valuable lessons on this car project. You won't appreciate them now, but you will in the future. Free car parts are great when they are going on a winter beater, but typically they are free for a reason and don't belong in a auto-x/dragstrip car. For the amount of money you have spent and will be spending starting over, you might as well just buy a pre-built crate engine and get a warranty with it. That way you know the machine work and assembly was done properly for the most part and won't have to worry about it for many years.
When you start over, get the thing up to Brainerd so I can actually help on it this time.

Well, I was looking forward to cruising up to Fargo in the Mustang, but it does not look like there is a chance in hell of that happening anytime this year. I might still try to get up there to visit Chris, we will see.
And yes, I can't seem to get away from these damnable Mustangs. It has been over a decade now.
