Weapon R uses foamlike filters, and have been notorious in the industry for failing or getting wet (no not water, but oil, grease, grit and grime) and clogging, or starting on fire! There is many different styles of CAI's and SRI's but you are best to stick with Injen, AEM, or other 'tested and tuned' intakes. They even have a intake now that has a dry ice chamber around the tube that puts the temp in the tube way lower. Kinda crazy, but in reality if you buy one, are you gonna be looking to purchase dry ice everytime you wanna go play on the streets or track? Bottom line spend the extra buck and get a quality brand, or have one of the shop's fab one for your car if they don't make a quality brand for it.

I agree that Weapon R intakes are sort of a joke. The difference between a "brand name" and no name intake though is going to be minimal, and the $200 extra that you spend on say an AEM v2 over just a non name one IN MY OPINION could be beter spent in making more power other places.

It's weird how weapon-r's foam filter is so shitty. We use UNI filters on all of the quads over here, they are foam and they work great. Actually trap more stuff than K&N and are easier to clean.

It's just another "theory". theory - An assumption based on limited information or knowledge.
These companies are putting way too much time and effort into designing this crap. I mean in all honesty, how much more power is it REALLY going to give you, IF it even helps. I like how they say it "they create a vacuum, which is where the airspeed starts to multiply, forcing more air into the engine at a higher rate". Sorry but the only way to force air in is with a turbo or supercharger!

CAI works good if you have other things too. intake, catback, and headers will help

No magical suction intake is going to produce dramatic horsepower gains. As long as the filter location is good and the air path fairly unrestricted, all intakes will give about the same increase. Focus on getting a well-fitting intake with a quality filter. And a huge sticker.

intakes and exhaust make hella difference if you have cams and such but i'd stick with a name brand as well...Injen is my personal favorite cuz of the velocity stack...i kinda like that technology

Honestly, show me a dynograph of a generic grand intake vs an injen intake with a hp difference of more then 10 hp.
(* not conducted by the injen company)

Save your $250 or whatever ungodly amount of money is spent on an name brand intake.

always on my case arent ya Jim? 🙂

its been a while since i looked at intakes and just remember the design being supposedly superior in some way...but i dont have a dyno graph of it and im not going to search around the net for one at this time cuz im not in the market for an intake.

my advice is do alot of research when you buy parts, see whats out there and whats good and what isnt and what suites your needs

Weapon-R has fine products. Your not going to get a real big hp gain from and intake setup anyway, short ram or cold air, it doens't matter. I have a weapon-r, and I got it for $144, shipped to my door in 3 days. AEM's and injens are good, but overpriced, and will not give that much more of a gain, if any. Weapon-R has dynos on the site I believe, and I know mine gave me a decent gain in HP and it sounds good. Spending 220 or so + on a name brand is retarded. Intakes like these are just as good anyway.

some intakes on some engines have actually been shown to increase hp but actually decrease torque...

At first I did it for fun, then I realized I made the investment and had to do it!

Just to chime in here on intakes. There are only 3 that are recommended for the WRX and guaranteed not to throw a CEL. TurboXS, APS, and Perrin. That alone was enough for me to narrow my search to those manufacturers.
