I was thinking the same...sounds like either kit car or salvage title.
-
hmmm....maybe not as its no longer classified as "Production Car"
-

tony, I just got this email from evolutionimports.com thought you might want to check into it:We all know this story, everyone tell this story to there kids to make them
goto sleep.when you start looking into the car has to be DOT and EPA
compliant.that all refers when you import a full running car.but the thing
that EPA and DOT wont tell you cause if they did a lot more people will be
douing it.is that an individual is allowed to buy parts and build/assemble a
automobile
Look into this company called 1G racing www.1gracing.com .they sell a britsh
car called the noble. You can buy the noble right from a dealership in
europe.they import the car as componets and have 3 part companies assemble
it.we do the same procedure as them.Frank Mendola

I wouldn't bother trying it, it can always be denied entry or cubed, who knows.
The aussies starting doing the same thing and their whole system came crumbling down and now they can hardly import anything at all and laws are wayy more strict.
Someone has done this with a R34 GTR here and if people keep doing it, they will likely change rules or go to a 25 year law as a penalty.
I can have a car disasembled in Japan for 250,000 yen ($2500ish) but good luck finding someone to agree to ship it and be held liable.. -

Ya know, there's more cars from Japan that we cant get here that would be cool to have as well not just the skyline.
For you guys in the States, I wouldn't really go to this much trouble for anything other than a GTR (even a GTST wouldn't be worth it). We have everything in North America or a weaker/feature deprived USDM equivalent to it, it would make much more sense to just do a front clip swap and make it JDM tyte y0!

I am referring to the ASL Garaiya. Or the Tommy Kaira ZZIII, or Mazda Cosmo. I like both of those little cars. Not to mention, The Dihatsu Midget. Now, that there is a true babe magnet.

The cost of disassembly and reassembly would be half or more of the cost of these cars though lol
