I would think if you're going to use air for grinders/cutters/etc of that nature, go with as big of a tank as you can afford.

Ya.. Generally an average size is roughly 30..
smaller tanks will just kick on more frequent..
but won't take as long to fill up

            60 isn't really portable, 30 is.. 🙂

I was under the impression he was talking about an air compressor for a shop or garage. 30 isnt exactly a treat to lug around either.

We have a 60 gallon Porter Cable compressor. Its a really nice machine, I have yet to wait for it to catch up.

show me a pic of a 60, I don't remember what we've got back home. It's kinda sized like my fish tank so I think it's a 30 and it does just fine.

ya well I figured coming from a 5 gallon, a 30/33 would do just fine & a 33 gal vert. can be used stationary no problem...
And he could save extra cash.. by not going the 60 route..
easier to lug around if needed, but just as easy to leave stationary.. and should for the most part get the job done.

This will be going in my garage and does not to be portable. I was under the impression that the tank size didn't matter. It was the size(hp) of the compressor that mattered. I thought i read somewhere that for every hp the compressor would flow 4.0 cfm at 90psi.

Can anyone explain this? I will take a look on google also for some more info.

Like i said i don't want to have to but another compressor in the future so i'm not worried about saving money now because i won't in the long run when i have to buy a bigger one.

Besides getting the tank size you need, I personally would not buy a oil-less type compressor. Get the good old piston type, much more quiet and last longer.

oil-less suck balls. They are noisier than shit and don't last long.
