isnt diesel more expensive......Thats what i thought plus all that weight you would think it would be a major gas hog???@!?
Back on topic, what are you looking for in a Silverado or Duramax? Consider anything else such as a F-250 or a Dodge 2500 or so?

How would it be a gas hog when it burns diesel fuel??
Diesel engines are more effiecient. My dad's duramax gets 14-17mpg pulling a car at about 80mph and better empty obviously. With a gas 3/4 ton truck, you would be extremely lucky to get close to 10mpg in the same situation.Diesels have higher initial costs, and lately higher fuel costs. But, things even out after awhile. So, it just comes down to what you want. There is something sweet about having that turbo whine when you slam the throttle down...

put an edge chip on it and get better
my dads shop has a powerstoke, in between souix falls and here with trailer with about a 4000 pound sander for a snow plow on the back and got just over 20mpg at 80

Yeah I think I am set on a diesel now. And the fact that it has a turbo, and lots of cool parts available to make it pull even more makes me kinda happy. I have never really liked Ford trucks, they just seem to cheap and plain, and if I were to get a Cummins, it would have to be the newer 02 or 03+ style, but then again they're so plain also, I think the GM is a lot nicer as far as features go.

GM's are nice and cozy, everything seems to be focused around you.

plus the duramax has the highest torque rating at 650 ft lbs!!!

Anyone find me one close by yet? I've found one in Lisbon, and like 3 around the Minneapolis area, but don't really have time to get there to look at them since I work all day.Edit I should specify I do NOT want a 2001.
Just go order a new 06 so you can get a 6 speed tap shift trans and tons of power...
