Leinart is NOT a poor loser. He personally went to the Texas locker room after the game to send congrats to coach Brown and Vince Young. I think he was taken out of context by the media after the game. Leinart is all class.
It breaking news....it looks like Ziggy wasted no time in hiring a new coach. Brad Childress is coming from the Eagles. I think he will make a great coach!

IMO, it was blown waaaaaaaaaay out of proportion. I just think that it's kinda funny how he was everyone's golden boy up until his team lost and he said that. Jeez, one poor judgement call after a tough defeat and all of a sudden he takes a beating by the press and the fairweather fans. No one is even mentioning that he was one of only two USC players who ventured into the Longhorn's locker room to congratulate them when he could have just sulked. Actions>Words IMO. -
BUT he said it on national TV...it doesn't matter how humble and how much a golden boy he is until a big game. The big games prove more than just the little piddly ones. Not only did he say that, he also had a HUGE attitude when he did say it. After he said he probably realized, Oh shit I fucked up I'm going to go talk to Texas and maybe everyone will think I'm better...It was just a really poor judgement call on his part thats all, because lets face it I would be pissed that we lost too BUT he should never have said that on national tv or to an audience of ANY kind...

Does it really matter? Leniart will make more money than all of us combined next year...

I actually don't see much wrong with what he said. He has pride in his team and thought that they were a better team overall, but that Texas played better that night. Its his opinion. A sore loser would have said "I can't believe how crappy our defense was tonight, anyone could have beat us the way those guys played" The only guy on Texas that impressed me was Vince Young wereas Bush (except the dumb pitch he tried at the end of the play), Leinart and their other RB (I keep forgetting his name) surprised me at how well they moved the ball against a VERY good Texas defense.

Is USCs offense awesome? No doubt about it. Do they have a good defense? No not really. They are not a complete team. They have a really kick ass offense and thats kind of it. Texas is a more balanced team as far as that goes. You know the saying, Offense scores points, defense wins championships.
-
But his opinion that they had a better overall team, is just that...his opinion. Two plays happened that could have completely caused a different outcome...Bush's errant decision to lateral at the end of a great run and the touchdown that should have been called down before the lateral. Would have Texas won had that call been reversed? Who knows, they could have fumbled, threw and INT or been forced to go for a FG. I know you can't go on the coulda-beens, but I'm not really convinced one team was all that much better than the other. Based on how I saw the game, I thought USC deserved the win based on how they played that night. Both teams were moving on the others defenses, but the offense was more balanced on USC. Having said, that congrats to Texas for an awesome season and finding a way to win the big one. I'm just showing why I don't think Leinart was being arrogant or a poor loser. He was just stating that he thought they were a better team that got outplayed that night. (I didn't see the actual interview, just going off the wording on here.) The guy is what? 22 years old? Losing the Rose Bowl is probably the most devastating thing he has experienced to date and I'm sure there was plenty of emotion.

jason and chuck.
please stop talkin about college football............period.
Leinart is just a sally(who does ballet by the way). OOOoo he was really great durin this past 34 games cause he had nothin but positives to say cause they never lost. now once they lose he says "we're teh better team?" Really matt? Why dont you idiots realize just cause texas didn't have 2 rb's with a lotta td's, a recievers with over 80 catches and 15 td's, doesn't mean their necessarily good. By the way, USC's defense is not what everybody cracks it up to be. i believe before the game it was ranked a grand 39th overall outta 111 teams? Yehhhhh, and texas is ranked 6th.
Texas's offense was only 3-5 td's short of USC's mark, so thats basically a cancel. I'll agree, their passing attack is more efficient...but not by much. Our TE david thomas is the best TE in the country, we have young recieving core who'll be great next year or the year after next, Steve smith and Dwayne jarret are good recievers, dont get me wrong. but if your all who leinart passes to, your stats will pad and it'll look good in the overall column.
Special teams, i think kicking wise its a cancel, their kickers longest was like 40 yards in the rose bowl, and that was his longest for the season. our kicker flat out sucks, maybe a slight edge to usc but nobody uses their kickers cause they score td's.
if you want me to keep continuing, i can...but texas is overall>usc. despite reggie bush being an idiot and vince young being supherb.

I based my comments off the game I saw that night. Neither team was far superior to the other, regardless of what their stats were the rest of the season. USC seemed to move the ball easier than Texas despite Texas having the better (ranked) defense. Texas deserved the win and Leinart just stated his opinion. I'd rather have someones straight up opinion than a sugar coated response....but one comment and the guy is deemed as being the worst loser in the history of sports, even though (as others have mentioned) he went into the Texas locker room to personally congratulate the whole team. Texas won fair and square. No doubt and noone can take that win away from them. I applaud them for their win. USC has noone to blame but themselves for losing, it was a clean game (what...3 penalties the whole game I think) Had USC won and Young made the exact same comments as Leinart, I would be defending him right now. I have ZERO allegiance to either team, aside from NDSU games, this is the only college football I watched all year. I didn't follow any of the hype leading up to the game, know only of their records and stats, and am giving my view on why I don't think what was said wasn't too far out of order.
