    I worked for bobcat 2 summers ago for just the summer....it is kinda difficult to get on at bobcat.....if you were a girl...you would get hired without a doubt because they have to hire girls.....

    But like a4matt said i would try getting on the assembly line....its very easy but your doing the same thing every day.....

    There is also Fargo Assembly in Lisbon and they make the wiring harnesses for bobcat..but they dont pay as well as bobcat.

    But Joel if you want to make real money ..talking 60-80k starting......let me know and i can give you a number to the place i will be working at soon ( CPR) Canadian Pacific Railway....easy work and great pay and benefits....but away from home quite a bit.

        i have got stuff from schools stating the kind off money with the railroad for starting that is the first i have heard about it being somewhat realistic. they stated 75-90K after going to a 8 month program

          U will be bored out of ur mind if u move to gwinner. Valley is a better choice, the guys carpool from there to gwinner so its a free ride, maybe chip in for gas im not sure.

                        True 5-10 years ago. Not so much today. They are in the middle of a BIG hiring campaign as something like 70% of their train services people (engineers/conductors) will be retiring in the next 5-10 years. But yes, knowing people that work there helps (helps with CPR as well).

                          BNSF isnt hard to get a job offered to you at all. Be aware if you are a fat ass like I was (even more so than I am now) they won't take ya. They have a "range of motion" test that basically eliminates ya if they think you are gonna be a disability case.

                          If you got a lot of work experience they are looking for, ie farm background, construction background, welding background you could get on pretty easily for a track job. And if you get on a track job, you would be more likely to get a CT job since you got your foot in the door.

                          I got another interview with BNSF this thursday. Get on there and transfer back here as soon as a job opens.

                          As far as Bobcat goes, guy from work used to work there, his parents still work there, and another guy left work here to go be a painter there, he loves it there. Another guy, applied for a assembly job 2 months ago and hasnt heard back.

                          Guy who used to work there, says if his gf didnt have her job here he would be back there welding again.

                          One thing Ive heard is, you have to work six 8 hour days a week.

                            I dunno, I know some not-so-skinny-people that have gotten on at BNSF as conductors. It ALL comes down to the interview. Period. Knowing someone won't guarantee you a job w/ them either, I know a guy whose brother got hired by BNSF about a year ago and was unable to get on with them...guy comes from a railroad family as well (Father, both brothers, and a couple uncles I believe) so its not ALL about who you know, though it never hurts to know someone.

                              I have 2 uncles that work on the railroad, my dad used to, and so did both of my grandpa's.....and i didnt get on the first time i applied...i did make it all the way to the interveiw though....

                              but then i applied again and got hired on...Just waiting for training to start at the end of april.

                                So getting into any of these places is pretty much hit and miss. I mean, it doesn't go by who you know, how much experience you have, or anything else you can control? this is crazy. I will let everyone know how my interview goes when I get back later tonight.

                                  I do think you need to be 18 before BN/CPR will hire you on as a conductor. You could probably get on a track crew at 17, but don't quote me on that.

                                    If you look on BNSF right now, they have conductor trainee positions open in Minot and Dilworth.
