A little incentive for the bikes at IDR
-
In the spirit of competition(and fun), Solid Performance has decided to "sweeten the pot" for the bikes at the Tintmasters Street Legal races. SP will be providing trophies for the winners of each class, at each race day. The winner of the class will be the person who makes the quickest pass within their class for the day.
Class breakdown will be as follows(tentative):
"600" class - Bikes 600cc or less from the factory(4 cylinder). Common bikes would include(but are not limited to): CBR 600s, R6s, GSXR 600s & ZX-6Rs. The Kawasaki 636 will be an exception to this class.
"750" class - Bikes 750cc or less from the factory(4 cylinder). Common bikes would include(but are not limited to): GSXR 750s & ZX-7Rs.
"1000" class - Bikes 1000cc or less from the factory(4 cylinder). Common bikes would include(but are not limited to): GSXR 1000s, R1s, ZX-10Rs & CBR 900/929/954/1000s
"Open" class - Bikes greater than 1000cc from the factory(4 cylinder). Common bikes would include(but are not limited to): Hayabusas, ZX-11s, ZX-12Rs, ZX-14Rs & CBR 1100s.
"V-twin" class - All V-twin bikes, no cc regulations. Common bikes would include(but are not limited to): Harleys, customs, RC-51s & SV650s.
Please note that most of the classes are formed around the stock displacements of the bikes. This is too allow any modifications to the bike and still have it remain it the same cc class.(There are so many levels of modifications to the bikes that run at IDR that we had to make the classifications as simple as possible) So a stock 1000 is in the same class as an extended 1000 with nitrous. Remember, this is a competition, and this is drag racing. If you want to be quicker than your buddy, start modding your bike.:)
There is no extra charge to race for a trophy. When you enter a bike, it is automatically in the running. The person whos name is on the tech sheet for the bike is considered the "rider". Only the runs that he/she makes on that bike will count toward the competition. Each rider may only enter one bike per race day.

If memory serves me, the following times were run in these classes last year....
600 - 10.80s
750 - 10.70s (I do remember a 10.4X pass in '05)
1000 - 9.80s
Open - 9.40s
V-twin - 10.70s
I know that people have been doing some work to bikes this winter. I wanna see all these time drop this year.

sounds like fun Ethan arnt you going to try and beat Dennis
Nope, since I kinda put this together, I decided that I can't win a trophy on my busa. I can however try to win a class on any different bike. Maybe I'll try my hand at each class on different days. For the most part, I'll probably be helping to run these events instead of racing. -

What is all needed to race your bike at the drag strip? Is it just a dead man's kill switch, leather jacket and gloves, helmet, and boots that cover your ankles?Yes, a tether is needed for any/all bikes. Every rider also needs a leather jacket, gloves, helmet and over-the-ankle leather boots. I believe you will need leather pants when you are either in the 10 second range or over 120 MPH. In the nines or quicker requires an NHRA license.
Bring out the 12.

Just let me ride your bike.Oh wait, you wouldn't want someone else to go faster on your bike than you do.

I thought that was why we kept Dennis around?

I would say Dennis is going to have a nice trophy on his mantle at the end of the year.
