    I was second bidder on Ebay the other day. A couple hours later I got an E-mail from "Second Chance E-Bay" stating I need to contact the seller for the purchase at my bid my bid price ($400). I responded to it, now they want my full name and shipping address. Anyone have any good ideas as to how I can fuck with this guy/gal??

          No doubt about being a scammer. E-Bay does offer it too. You will receive a message in E-Bay under your messages. This is a scam. Just wanted to play it out for a while.

              OK let me start over
              I bid on a item on Ebay
              I was not hi-bidder
              I received a SPOOF EBAY EMAIL from "eBay member: [email protected]" <[email protected]"

              Here is the content;
              --- Contact the seller directly at: [email protected] --- eBay Second Chance Offer ! Buy The Item You Recently Bid On ! In compliance with eBay's Policy, the seller is making this Second Chance Offer to you at your last bid price of: US $400.00 The seller has issued this Second Chance Offer because either the winning bidder was unable to complete the transaction or the seller has duplicate items for sale. The selling of this item through Second Chance Offer is in compliance with eBay policy; you will be able to exchange Feedback with the seller and will be eligible for all eBay services associated with a transaction, such as fraud protection. To purchase this Item just contact the seller at: [email protected]. --- Contact the seller directly at: [email protected] ---

              Anytime there is a Second Chance on E-Bay, they, E-Bay will send you an E-Mail. To verify this all E-mail's will show up in your E-Bay account under messages. I do not have a message in my account therefore this is a scam.
              I replied stating I was interested, here is their reply
              Hi there,

              Thank you for the e-mail! Below,I will explain a little bit about this
              second chance offer. I've made this second chance offer to you because
              the winning bidder failed to buy the item. There are many bidders
              who placed a bid on the auction just for fun or to raise the price
              for their own interest.
              Now , for start, I will explain you a few steps to finish this
              transaction :
              1.The final sales price would be your last bid amount, insured shipping
              included($400.00).
              2.To start the official transaction in a very protected way, please
              reply with your name and shipping address, so I could contact eBay to
              setup this transaction.

              In order to proceed with this purchase , I will need the following
              information:

              • your complete name
              • your complete shipping address

              Once I'll have this information , I will pass them to eBay along with
              my information. In short time we will be contacted by them with full next
              instructions on this purchase.
              I am dealing only thru this eBay system!

              Thank you!

                ive been sent second chance offers and u are right there is a message in "my ebay" also with the second email he sent you it deff. looks like a scam. why would ebay need ur full name and address to "proceed" with the transaction? either this guys is a complete idiot or its a scam but probaly a scam.

                as far as messing with him i would prolly just give him some fake info to see how much bullshit this guy tries to dish out, and atleast report it to ebay so they can block that email address from ebay, which wont do much but it might help somebody else out down the road

                      From Ebay;
                      Instructions(please read carefully) :

                      Complete your eBay transaction in 5 easy steps:

                      Buyer and seller agree on the transaction terms and a selling price.
                      Seller contacts eBay with the transaction details, eBay accepts the transaction and offers purchase protection to the buyer (if the transaction is declined, no further action is required from either the buyer or the seller).
                      The buyer sends payment and the seller receives it. After the payment is received, the seller must notify eBay. The Buyer will send the payment details directly to the seller`s email address. The seller has three business days to send the buyer and eBay the tracking number of the shipment. If no tracking number is provided, a full refund is immediately sent to the buyer.
                      Buyer receives the merchandise and has five days to inspect it. If it is complete and as described, the buyer should accept the merchandise. If he refuses the merchandise, the buyer must ship the merchandise back to the seller within three business days.
                      After the inspection period is over, the buyer must contact eBay with the result of the inspection. If the buyer refuses the merchandise, the refund will be sent to the buyer after the tracking number for the returned shipment is verified.

                      Attention: Sending the payment by any other method will void this transaction and your right to refund.

                      Details and instructions of this transaction:

                      The following item(s) are clear for eBay item insurance policy:

                      Birmingham,B21 1BB
                      United Kingdom

                      Buyer shipping address:

                      United States

                      Payment instructions:

                      The payment has to be made using Western Union in collaboration with PayPal and eBay Inc. We would like to confirm to you again that our seller , Alice Wilson is an registered eBay Seller. Payment via Western Union are guaranteed. Your dealing with Alice Wilson , covered under PayPal Seller Protection eBay Fraud Protection Plan (e-Bay SafeHarbor) . After you will make the payment via Western Union please contact the seller at this e-mail address:
                      However, Western Union Money Transfer is designed mainly for sending cash to friends and family in need, so telling them you are sending the money to an eBay seller will prevent your money transfer to go through and you will be unable to complete this transaction.

                      Several IDs and utility bills are required before the funds are paid. Therefore, no
                      one else but your seller can pick up the money. Your payments cannot be
                      lost in the mail, like money orders or checks.

                      Because the fee to send a Western Union Money Transfer is high, compared to other methods of payment, we have arranged with the seller to compensate for half of this fee (i.e. if it costs you $100 to send the payment, take $50 from the amount insured and send the balance).

                      Once the payment was sent, email the seller the following information:

                      1. 10 digit MTCN # (Western Union):
                      2. Exact sender name on file with Western Union:
                      3. Your street address on file with Western Union:
                      4. City and country where you sent the money from:
                      5. Amount sent:

                      Then wait for the confirmation the payment was received. Within 3
                      business days, you will receive the tracking number for your
                      merchandise.

                      The seller is a registered SquareTrade Member. Buy with confidence!

                      Free coverage up to US $5,000.00 .Guaranteed by eBay !

                      From them;
                      eBay has told me that they've sent you all the instruction via email on how to
                      proceed with this transaction.
                      How you saw in the eBay invoice I have my ebay account a lot of money
                      for my buyers protection. If something will go wrong(i don't think so) you will
                      get a full refund. I will pay the shipping and you must pay just half of money
                      transfer fees. I think that it's not a problem for you. What I want to ask you ,
                      when you send the money please don't declare the money for goods or any kind of
                      transactions because is a new UK government policy regarding money laundering and
                      it's possible to don't let you send the money or to block the transfer if you

                        That UK part sounds a little fishy to me...

                        At first I did it for fun, then I realized I made the investment and had to do it!

                              Yeah I was going to say...people are getting VERY good at spoofing ebay accounts. There was something on the news recently about a guy who hacked into Ebay's main computer/server and got tons of account info. Ebay denies it but there is a lot of proof that this did in fact happen and they have yet to catch the person. Add to that the fact that people are getting VERY legit looking "ebay" emails and stuff that are really scams and I'd be kinda wary. Especially since he sent you the same exact thing in response to like 2 or 3 of your emails...I'd have told this guy to go shove it and looked elsewhere.
