Well nick talked to me earlier and had me remove sls from the website all together, as its a bad reflection on him. honestly nick, you know that'd be something that i wouldn't want.
let's see if we can all agree on something for once as fargostreet members... here's what i purpose and you guys can add or subtract from this
we split the forums up, the off topic forums will be left moderated by me, the bullshit can flow, but nothing to out of control such as actual personal shots that are serious in nature, things that get like 10 pages long with no real purpose and stuff like that.
the other section will be on topic. i will be willing to appoint moderators that are non-partisian to anything; people that will make a decision not based on personal opinon but on what is going to be good for the board / scene. anything off topic will immediatly be removed and transfered to the offtopic or if it just sucks, be deleted.
I just looked, there are 16 of you viewing THIS TOPIC so I know you all have opinons. chime in, this is your (the members) views that need to be expressed here.
EDIT: also let me know if you would be willing to agree to stop some of your own bullshit before it begins...

I also want to clear up that I dont think this site sucks at all. In fact it can be quite fun at times. Yes theres alot of B.S. butit is usually in good fun. I dont think it needs a major overhaul, just a little tweaking here and there. And as the site matures these things will happen. It probably wont happen overnight. But I guess I aint going nowhere and I've waited longer for less. One thing I would like to see is for Jim to Send a Email to all the members as they join explaining exactly what rules he personaly would them to adhere to. I've joined a couple of forums before that do this and I knew there and then what is expected of me and my conduct. Now this might be far fetched and asking alot but it would give new users along with old something to adhere to and they cant say that they never read it.

Heres how it should go...
Split it up to a car talk/tech/information section. Appoint a worthy moderator or admin. Tufte, GSR, Blake whoever Jim thinks is up to task to moderate it.
Make a bullshit/casual lounge section. Anything goes basically. Jim will moderate it as he already said. So if you got a problem with it, don't go there and complain so we're all happy. You have the right to visit any part of the site for input, but if you complain in this section, you're wrong because you know why it's there.
When we click on new posts, it'll link us to either the bullshit, cartech sections or both, you choose.
I also have an idea about modding our own made thread. If you want it to keep on track do it yourself. PHP should have a certain way of the thread starter being able to delete off topic posts to keep the thread on track. Just make sure they can't see IP's, or anything an admin can see. Just make it click on posts you want out, and simply selecting delete.

I think alot of people on here make good points about the website as it is now, and where they would like to see things go. Here is where I am coming from... To an extent, it does not bother me if people want to heckle each other back and forth. I understand that is part of being friends with people, I mean ask anyone who really knows me I love giving people shit. The only thing that bothers me is that when people on here turn a legitimate thread (classifieds, or a a good question), and turn that into something it shouldn't be. If you want to give people shit, give them shit, but make a seperate thread in the off topic, or run your mouth area. However, some times it just gets to be too much. I think that all the members on the board are here because they want to be. Some are bored, and some just want to keep up on what's going on in the fargostreet world. I think if everyone would just take a moment to step back, and look at it from both perspectivies, and we could all have a mutual respect for each other it would go a long way.
To summarize a long post. I think that we should all try to start over again. Guys who don't know alot of people on here, post an introduction, and let's try that with a fresh slate, one in which we all maintain a professional level of respect for one another. If we could do that... we could avoid 99% of the problems we have.
And Jim I would be more then willing to help if you need it.

Now FYAD is where all the non serious pretty much un moderated posting goes on. Flame wars are welcome here.
GBS is very moderated and controlled. Shit does not stand on this forum, it is VERY serious. A serious problem gets a serious answer ( Not to say there is no joking, but you can have fun well being serious. )
And Somethingawful run like a machine they make money off there site! The only reason I bring them into this is becasue they have a very successful web site ( 15,000+ members at $10-30 a pop ) So they might be a good example.

Well tufte I appologize for coming off so harsh on ya dude, but basically I got sick of you jumping on people for saying they wanted a bodykit, or they wanted street glow. Or when I posted about a supercharger and turbo kit for my car and listed the dyno proven numbers it posted for my car, and the times some SVT's have posted with the mods I talked about.
It wasnt just you but a couple of other guys... basically people that can afford to have things done to their cars which I cannot right now as I spend my money on other toys right now. I was basically stating proven points along with others doing the same... or their own personal opinion and they and I were cut down for that and I was called a bench racer.
I have a lot of respect for you and the guys at SLS for doing what you do every day... wish it was me doing that and had that kind of knowledge. Im just sick of people thinking they know everything about everything and cutting other people down because they talk about parts for their cars and what their cars are capable of. I know I have a slow car, but its un-modified as of yet and I know what its capable of.
Im just as guilty as the next guy, and totally agree with you the board needs to mature in certain parts. But we should be allowed to talk shit and get on each other in the run your mouth section of the forums. They should be moderated to a certain extend, and moderators should try and keep the bullshit out of the threads that arent off topic.
So once again tufte I do appologize to ya, but in a small or large way everyone here is to blame for the problem.
