I need to have one part machined on a lathe, and I need a fuel line rebuilt using two ends I already have.

Where should I get this work done? Who can do it either that day or in a day or two?

    Thanks!
    Andrew

Is your fuel line Steel braided? if so, the guys at the performance auto (across main from burgertime in fargo) have lots of line on hand, rebuild your own line.

Theres a guy in town here that makes custom braided fuel lines, i can get the guys name for ya if you want, its at work. if its just a hard line you need made up just give me a call and bring what you need made and i'll get ya hooked up.

The only shop i can think of off the top of my head with a lathe though is Thursons (i think thats right) on main west of I29.

Are you thinking of Thurlow's welding and machine? They are west of I-29 , right next to Union Storage on main and have a lathe.

Well, fargo hose directed me to Fargo Engine and Machine on 3rd ave. N just west of 27th st. The guy there was really helpfull and since I had to go get the fuel hose myself, he charged me a grand total of 2 dollars. What a guy.

Then I went to thurlows and that is not the place to get small, custom lathe work done, I'd rather buy a lathe myself than take something there. I'm sure they've done plenty of good work, but the guy who I talked to was all shakey and dirty as hell. Maybe I'd take my driveshaft there for some spicer joints, maybe.... if I wanted to wait 3 weeks.

So, I need to find a place that is open minded and creative when it comes to customizing car parts. Anyone have a lathe I can borrow for like 30 minutes?

the guys that are dirty in that business usually know what their doing better. haha

u joints are easy to install though, so I'd just do it myself.

sorry the machine shop deal didnt work out.

I dont know of anybody else who has a lathe, at least nobody else that ive ever used.

Eh, it wasn't so much the dirtyness of the guys, I just thought that was the most striking feature of the guy. Like maybe he hadn't showered in a spell.

The wait time didn't sound fun, and mostly, I think they are into bigger stuff that doesn't have any wires attatched. I will look a bit more. Maybe they'll have to do. We'll see!

Ha, got the cam angle sensor done up by a gunsmith out by my grandparents lake cabin. perfect fit, and 5 dollars. Win.

Now I need my cam modded. Maybe I'll try one of the local people here in moorhead.

I was gonna say, my dad has a lathe in our gun shop, but its down in fergus falls. I also know a retired machinist from there that can make practically anything, from the tar wagon the city uses down to a completely homemade black powder pistol, which he machined every part from scratch.
