Fargo Police Officer: Camper
-
So Matt (drifterextreme) and i were driving around tonight, down 13th, probably under the speedlimit if anything, just talking. I stopped at the light on 13th and 25th and i was going to take a left and head north on 25th back to main, when a police car pulls up behind me. I had just got the car, and hadnt switched the registration or plates yet, and the tabs were expired. So i pulled into the Sunmart there, and Matt and i went in, to avoid any trouble. We were inside about 20 minutes. When we came out, the cop wasnt there, so we left, i didnt even get out of the parking lot when the cop was on my ass again. He waited 20 minutes outside for us, over expired tabs. Then he pulled me over. He took my, and Matts drivers liscenses and went back to his car, giving no reason for pulling me over. After 25 minutes, and 5 more police cars showing up, he came back. The first ticket was failure to carry insurance, which i have, but havent gotten the card yet. If he would have checked my record a little better he would have seen that if i do not carry insurance on my vechile, the state is notified immedatly because ive gotten a ticket for it before. No problem ill just bring the card in. The second ticket was failure to display valid registration, even though i have 30 days to register the vechile, and i was carrying my title with me. I asked him about that, and he said yes you do, but your plates are expired and i think your registration is ficticious. What BS, all this over tabs. Both tickets are easily taken care of, thats not my gripe, my gripe is the Waiting part, 20 minutes? Isnt there enough drug dealers and meth heads out there that the FPD has better things to do than to wait for people to get into their cars? The rude officer was FPD Officer number 313 Benton, and the accompanying officer was FPD Officer number 289 Getz. End Rant.

lolz.
I just get sick of being fallowed by cops. It has happend at least 3 times in the last month. Its not just we were heading the same direction. It was for 5+miles, though completely differant parts of town with no possible way it was not intentional. Also the vehilces were fallowing way to close, I could have touched my breaks for under 5 seconds and had a squad car up my ass.

Ya, sounds like when they nailed me for "An Illegal Left Hand Turn". Story is we were out cruising, stopped at a red turn light on 13th. It was 3 cars, me, a cop, travis, and another cop behind him, all in the SAME lane. Turned green made a left turn on the inside lane, right after I COMPLETED it (on 45th st) I turned into the lane to my right....couple seconds later I get pulled over. The cop said I went from one turn lane to the other in the MIDDLE of the turn and cut off the other officer, which was in the lane i had turned from, not too, behind travis. According to Travis the cop had swooped around from behind him to along side of him when I had started switching lanes...and wasnt behind me till I was already done, therefore cutting nobody off and not making a legal turn....$100 ticket and getting fucked over in court and $200 more in insurance every 6 months, i've bout had it. Not to mention all the ones that follow people around all through town. I mean go nail some drunks or drug dealers or solve some robberies or something. If I fuck up and get caught speeding it's my own dumb fault, but it's gotten to be bs charges and just plain harassment.

like the one on Uni when I was with the other night...that was bad

I agree, following people for extended periods of time, and waiting for them to come out of a business is just plain harassment. By law I believe that a police officer cannot just run a persons plates if he feels like it, there has to be a reason.

To answer your question about the time issue...no there isn't anything they have going on...Just two days ago I was pulled over at 620AM (yes, in the morning) on my way to work...cop gave me a tint ticket and a no front licence plate ticket (and my plate was in my windshield...not good enough i guess...along with both of my windows being rolled down the whole time, but he asked me to roll them up, then gave me a tinted windshield ticket???). He then proceeded to tell me "I can tell by how your exhaust LOOKS that it is too loud...modifying your exhaust in any way at all is illegal"...I kinda bitched about that one so I didn't wind up getting a ticket for it that time (told him he better be pulling over half of the trucks and motorcycles that drove by while I was pulled over bc they were far louder than my car, sad to say, but once again I feel profiled bc I have a import with a fartcan)...Not to mention I told him "I'm going to be late for work"...and he just said "well you better hurry up and get in my car so you can get to work"...I was treated like shit basically...btw...I was going 39-40mph in a 40. He just pulled me over bc he was bored i'm guessing...fucker
Also, 3 weeks ago on my way home from work I got a tint ticket and an exhaust ticket...mind you my exhaust is stock minus a fartcan (stock header and stock cat converter...it isnt loud compared to most)
I'm sure the state of ND now feels safer knowing that I have been ticketed for tint two times within less than a month...
You would think they would give people more time to handle things such as that, beings I really dont have a bunch of money laying around nor the know-how...ive never taken tint off before and dont wanna fuck anything up...and not to bitch, but my car wouldn't look very good with 5% in the back and nothing in the front
ND state cops can suck it...all bc they have a badge they think they can do whatever the fuck they want. Including handing out pointless tickets to people that can barely get by the way it is...I musta caught both officers on a bad/boring day or something...
BTW, I'm not saying I'm above the law...but to get the same ticket 3 weeks apart and one being 620AM on my way to work...c'mon...the tickets pretty much took a days worth of money from me...cops around here really need something better to do with their time rather than profile us younger people who drive imports...I wasn't doing anything that was "racer like" or driving like an idiot in either of these cases...the cops were just being dicks...I hope they feel better knowing that they have my poor ass's money...afterall, thats the name of the game isn't it? Some of the laws are there to generate revenue, not protect the public...but we all already know that dont we...

We should have some sort of assembly when one of these happens, call everyone you know right away so we can all come there, We have the right to Assemble, or start taking these to the court system and letting the local media know about it. Its the same as any other type of profiling, and is illegal. Clearly there is more than one or two cases out there.

Somebody please tell me where in this document it says I can't have my licience plate in my windshield...this is the one that I have apparently violated.
39-04-11. Display of number plates and tabs. Except as otherwise specifically
provided, a person may not operate or drive a vehicle on the public highways of this state unless
the vehicle has a distinctive number assigned to it by the department, and two number plates,
bearing the distinctive number conspicuously displayed, horizontally and in an upright position,
one on the front and one on the rear of the vehicle, each securely fastened, except number
plates assigned to a motorcycle, trailer, or housetrailer must be attached to the rear thereof.
When only one number plate is furnished for an apportioned vehicle licensed under the
international registration plan as authorized in section 39-19-04, truck tractor, or semitrailer, the
plate must be attached to the front of the apportioned vehicle or truck tractor and the rear of the
semitrailer. The bottom of each number plate must be at a height of not less than twelve inches
[30.48 centimeters] above the level surface upon which the vehicle stands. Each plate must be
mounted in a manner that does not cover any words, letter, or number on the plate. As far as is
reasonably possible, the plates must at all times be kept free and clear of mud, ice, or snow so
as to be clearly visible and all number plates, markers, or evidence of registration or licensing
except for the current year must be removed from the vehicle. All vehicle license plates issued
by the department continue to be the property of the state of North Dakota for the period for
which the plates are valid. An annual registration tab or sticker for the current registration year
must be displayed on each number plate, in the area designated by the department for the tab or
sticker, in those years for which tabs or stickers are issued in lieu of number plates. -

you actually have the same violations going on with your car...3" turboback w/o a muffler, illegal tint, and your licience plate in the window...your time is coming...either that or its bc ur car isnt a honda with a fartcan...but you have the same violations going on that i did...i have since put my licience plate on the front at least...

theres not enough crime around here, so the cops get bored and target us. its bullshit. i got a ticket last year in january for exhaust 3 days after i bought my old civic. the bitch cop knew i just bought the car and still wrote me a god damn ticket for it. she then proceeded to follow me all the way from advance auto parts to my old apartment down by kmart on s. university. i hate patrol pigs.
i do love ranting though, sorry bout no paragraphs thing though -

I believe if an officer follows you for more than 3 or 4 turns without pulling you over it can be classified as harassment.
And yes the police can and do run plates for no reason all the time. When I did my ride along every stoplight we'd run the plates of at least 1 car or while driving. They do it to see if there are any warrant hits.
-
If I ever have a police officer fallow RIGHT my ass I just pull over into the next place of business RIGHT away. If they still fallow, I get out of my car, walk into the place of business, etc. They will keep driving because they are too preoccupied running your plates, trying to find something wrong.
And if they do fallow you, they won't turn their lights on because they don't have a reason yet.
I honestly think police are just out to ruin peoples day, keep peoples moral down a little. They target specific cars so they are more warry in the future.

Yea, i tried that ^^^ and he waited outside for 20 minutes.
