Massive amounts of $$$$ from certain automobile makers. What better to get them out of a slump, especially with all that's been going on lately with the domestic car market, than a big screen movie to advertise your products. It worked in the past and it works today.
I wonder what percent mustang sales went up and the number of pre orders for the new camaro were after transformers came out.
