we cover, as the primary unit, a LOT of area out here (15 miles west, 7 miles north, 10 miles south, and about 9 miles east) but there isn't a large population. Page is only 220ish and we cover parts or all of a couple other small towns and serve as back-up and second crew for anyone in the county basically. For instance the bomb scare at meritcare, our crew was on standby in Fargo to assist along with every other EMS unit in Cass County. Couple years ago during the first big icy weather spell we were called to assist for car accidents on I94 which is about 25 miles out.
call load varies greatly both with fire/rescue and EMS. EMS may go an entire month without a call, or we'll have a span of 3 days with 4 calls like we had the beginning of last week. Usually there are between 1 and 4 calls per month for EMS. Fire has been very very quiet the last 3 or 4 years. We used to go out at least weekly for small brush fires and an occasional machinery fire. The last few months we haven't had anything except for a pretty interesting car accident about 3 weeks ago and the house fire I posted about a week ago.
but, we'll see it all out here. Paramedic crews from Fargo intercept most of our medical calls so they can start IVs, intubate, and set up 12 leads as necessary.

Im going to school close, I tried to get into Northwood last night, but they werent letting anyone in, today either. I have a vid that ill upload on here if i can. When i went outside at, 9:30 the sky was yellow to the south, and black to the north, and there was the craziest thunderstorm ive ever seen, Literally hundreds of lightening flashes a minute. Video was taken in Mayville facing north-northwest towards the Hatton Northwood area.

My mom called this morning to give me an update. My uncle's company, Agvise, is pretty much destroyed. His main building is damaged considerably, but the outbuildings are “gone”. All of the pickups, trailer, and 4 wheelers used for the soil sampling are “gone.” I guess they don’t even know where they’re at yet. The company my dad works for also has a plant in Northwood. It sounds like the roof is ripped off.
Everyone in my family is alright … my parents live in Portland, ND and my uncle lives in Grand Forks. It sounds like the whole town is torn up pretty good though. Hopefully everyone has been found and treated.
