I work for simplexgrinnell as a fire alarm technician/inspector...in other words I carry a stick w/ a magnet attached to it and set off fire alarms all day

Ahhh... I wonder if it was the place you work for that I had to all about 127 times to get a temperate sensor detector for the lobby of my hotel We have a Simplex system in my hotel.

At the building sites I don't do a lot of testing...do some finals but thats about it. What I normally do is inspect systems that have been up and running for at least a year and recertify them as being NFPA compliant. I'm primarily an inspector, but I do some tech work as well. I'd make the change to full time tech but the pay isn't any different so I can't see a good reason to take on more stress...

no, I did finally get it resolved.... people cooking breakfast kept setting off our smoke detector, so we had to switch...
