I'd have gone faster but the 2 different cars I had rented were out of go at that point. The Opel Astra I had I actually redlined in top gear, as in, the rev limiter cut in. Of course, this was down hill
This is from our rented BMW 320d 2 liter diesel station wagon, 6 speed stick. The Astra had a better top end. You can tell this one is a diesel from the 5000 rpm redline! I think it actually topped out in 5th, not 6th.

Ok but the do have GT3's and such taht are capable of that maybe its not an everyday thing but I know it does happen

And the derestricted sections of road don't stretch on for hours at a time... its more like 45 minutes of 130kph, then 10min of derestricted.. then more 130kph. Of course it depends on what part of the country you are in...
I did see a number of GT3s there, but they were parked along the street in the town of Nurburg, waiting for the opening of the Nurburgring the following day
Speaking of which, I saw a black 997 Turbo driving in fargo yesterday. Not everyday you see ~130k of car taking up only 1-cars worth of street

I watched an episode of 5th gear where they showed how easy it was to get a car to top speed on the autobahn. They took a Audi S6 (v10 400+hp) out onto one of the unrestricted areas. They had a VERY difficult time getting it up to even 155 because of all the traffic. I'd say getting above that would be relatively rare. I did an "indicated" 180 on my 954rr once....pretty eerie at those speeds.

on one of my long boring drives to Grand Forks, i decided to open up the GSR and see what it would do....i shut it down at a hint over 130mph....it was getting rather fast, but i really didnt want a ticket...maybe some time i'll push it a bit further because it was just starting to open up at that speed.

not sure how fast we were going but we had the speedo in my friends built 1g talon over the 145 top end mark for about 30sec so im not sure how fast we were going, prolly 160-170
