This afternoon I saw a white nisssan 240, big rims, blue roll cage, right hand drive, minnesota plates, sitting on the corner of 13th and university S revving the shit out of his engine. Anyone know who this is?

getting them into the US is not hard at all. There are lots in the US, we just do not see or hear about them up here in ND. I talked to him about it, It actaully didnt take that much work.

I guess the emphasis of my questions should have been more on the getting it registered rather than getting it here. it's easy to get it here, but hard to register.

I talked to him, he told me his title from MNDOT says 1997 or 8 cant remember. Nissan Silvia K. the VIN is the serial number..... He said it actually was not that hard. just had to do some paper work.

I'm guessing, that unlike the GT-R, the silvia along with other cars that have an "american" counterpart makes it a lot easier to register here. Maybe telling a little fib on the owners part helps too.

officailly, GT-R or silvia, they take the same amount of work to legalize. They all have to uphold saftey standards, emissions,.....

i claim BS. If that car is as hard to federalize as a GT-R, there's no way he went through and crossed his T's and dotted his I's. Who did the crash testing?

The headlights -> hood gap looks wrong to me, and the amber turn signals on the air dam look wrong also.

Part of me says I'd bring over an R-32 GT-R and never register it.. just drive it at the track... but thats a lot of coin for not a lot of driving.. and I've already got a track car.

Isn't it true that once a vehicle is 25 years old you can import it no questions asked (comparatively) ? If so, 2015 is when you'll be able to bring over R-32 GT-Rs and street them easily/legally. It might be worth it to bring some over now, put them in a barn, and sit on them. Hrmm 🙂

Re-read what IchibanKiller said. The S14 was here in the US. Legally, all he has to do is have dual airbags and install glass from a USDM S14. Therefore, he doesn't need to do crash testing, as this was already accomplished by Nissan USA in 1995.

The amber signals: Those are J-spec signals on a J-spec front bumper. The reason it looks goofy is because the foglights are missing, which would fill in the gap.

Headlight gap: Look at the back of his hood. It's got spacers in it, just like mine and Fabers. When you do this, it throws off the front part of the hood a little bit. If he were to put it back at stock configuration, it would all line up perfectly.

25 year age limit: Correct, 25 years, supposedly no questions asked. This is how a USAF officer got his black 1971 Hakosuka GT-R brought over. Pics of it are in my NOPI 07 pics thread.

I believe it's legal. Hell, there's 2 legal S15's in my town right now.

Hrmm 🙂

I am not even going to start. Look at peters post.

what about all the EDM and JDM front end conversions..... Ebay lights, HID swaps.....

Also, a R32 is not that expensive, you just see all the hardcore overpriced shit on the US forums.
